If we are talking about football as a war game in general I would like to suggest the book "Art of War" by the ancient Chinese General Sun Tsu. There are alot of concepts which a coach can take and apply to football.

An out-of print copy? I wouldn't be surprised if it was worth 2 or 3 times that.

Sun Tsu is a great book that fits with football idealogies.
Give some stuff that the Neyland book talks about. I also need some help spending $75 on a book.

Guys...this isn't a book he wrote. It is a compilation of his personal journals regarding games, thoughts, ideas, philosophy, and how his experience in the military related to football and vice versa. This is one of the most brilliant men to ever coach the game. He talks about scouting, plays, formations, other coaches, practice plans, everything.

Got the book today. When you unwrap it. You look at and say well thats why it costs 75 bucks!!! Very impressive!!! A primary source on the greatest defensive coach in history, influenced Wilkenson and Bryant. Warning- This book is for only serious students of the game of football. Also get Mr. Kosar to autograph it for you. If you have football book collection this is a must have.
