We are looking for ways to more done in the amount of time we get to coach the kids. One thing that I came across was on the Valdosta tapes where they basically did some drills to warm up. I like this idea in that you are doing football related skills to warm up. Anyone else do this? What are some things the lineman can do to warm up doing football related skills? And do you think this is safe for the kids?

I watched a spring ball practice of a local Div II school where they had about 10 min. of pre-practice drills at a slow tempo, then went to dynamic warm-up for another 10 min. then back to indy.

We always have a 15-minute Specialty period before Warmup. Linemen (who aren't specialists - kickers, deep snappers, ex.) work on combination blocks, pass pro, pass rush (including screen and draw), goalline charges and stunts (like twists, for ex.)

We are thinking of doing the same thing. Simply to squeeze more minutes and instruction out of our practice. coachjd's idea sounds like a good one.
