Are there any states who use playclocks during the games?
The reason I ask, I went to a first round state playoff game this weekend, and a team from our conference was playing. They are a ground pound offense and want to control the ball and play keep away from the other team and shorten the game. I was timing how long it took from the whistle to snap and the avg time was 30 to 35 sec!!! I timed one play that was 42 sec. We tell the officials all the time when we play this team but will never call it.

I think it is a hit or miss thing here in Texas. Most places have play clocks. Some places that play grind it out wing t style don't. The place that split50 is at had a play clock about 4 years ago, then they switched over to grind it out, and voila, their play clock was gone. hmmmmmm Don't know if they have one now.

I may be wrong, but here in Minnesota they cannot be used. Even when teams play at college fields or at the metrodome the clocks are turned off.

I actually don't know if it is part of our UIL NCAA adapted rules that they must be used. Most places have them, and use them. If they don't have them, it's one of those "oh well, they don't have them" kind of deal.

every stadium i've coached in the past 10 years (with maybe the exception of 1 - tog, did we?) has used a play clock.......
i've coached at larger schools so they were present at the stadium. i know when i played (at a smaller school) we didn't have one. so, since it is not used at every level i can only assume that it isn't a mandated rule by UIL.

i don't think it would have mattered if we had one huey. I think the stadium does have one. I know the scoreboard goes up to the high 50s at least
