LOL here in NC things are a little different. You can go out an unlimited number of days, but can only take 21 kids at a time, and no contact. So we started March 18, on Mondays DL, LB's go out. Tuesdays are DBs and OLB's. Thursdays are QB's, RB's, and Wr's. We will hold a camp for our OL and go out four days a week in May until the week before school lets out.

We are just doing it doing class this year(no pads) because all of our QB's and most of our backs and WR's will be in baseball into May.

In West Virginia, we are allowed to work with our team (Helmets only) for the last 3 weeks in June. Other than that, only weight lifting and conditioning is allowed. During the 3 weeks in June, we do alot of 7 on 7, install schemes, rep plays, alignment, etc.

We don't get anything like this in Illinois. Our state likes to stunt kids development and help them lost scholarships. Of course it is run by democrats ;D (Sorry had to do it)

No spring fb in Kansas. However, at a recent clinic I heard Coach Roger Barta (multiple state championships and perennial power at Smith Center) speak, and he said, "We've started our spring football at Smith Center." Of course, the room became quiet, and after a dramatic pause Coach Barta followed up by saying, "We call it track."

August 7. No spring ball in Michigan either. We can do some limited things (no plays or schemes legal) in PE classes, camps and 7-on-7s in the summer. No contact or 11-on-11.

We are a Houston Veer team, yes. But can't apply three-man rule in Techniques of Sports class when I'm only instructor and have linemen, receivers, etc. too. MHSAA rules prohibit running plays or schemes. So we do generic football skill drills that they all do regardless of position (interception drills, long snapping, ball carrying, etc.)

ahh yeah I have dealt with that rule as it pertains to wrestling but I was not aware of rules for football pertaining to scheme. Technically a mesh rep I guess falls itnto the veer theme but I don't see much wrong with working that in the off season. Now if we can only get the MHSAA to change its tune. We have had coach Annese over here in Big Red land since 2000 so we are all veer crazy here anymore. Fun to watch when it is working right.

They're not changing their tune, they're going in the other direction. Beginning in 2007, if you have a PE class where one MHSAA tournament spoonsored sport is taught, you will have to teach three. There will also be ten-day "dead" period in the summer prior to August.
i know there are guys out there who are running plays. schemes, or doing 7-on-7 in class, but they are in violation. It's a big deal with the Representative Council.

Florida starts May 1st. Full contact after 3 practices. Most have Spring games 3rd weekend. Some have Jamborees (playing 2 qtrs). Anyway, great time to evaluate and create excitement for the Summer off-season workouts. Any on the board are welcome down to the sunshine state for a Spring game. In Florida there are only 2 seasons, football season & the off-season. (Followed closely by the NCAA basketball championship).

You know why basketball was invented, don't you?
To give the athletes something to do between the two MAJOR sports - football and spring football!
And, it's ALWAYS football saeason - just longer between games sometimes.
