I am courious how to leave a coaching gig after a terrible season, but family circumstances have taken priorty over the job and the other thing is everyone keeps asking if your coming back next year and the kids want you to coach next year. Although the team will be great next season, you feel awkward on how to talk to the HC about leaving after making plans to build the program better. how would you leave this situation? The family is a no brainer, but finding the words to say is the problem.

If he's a good head coach, just be upfront with him. Don't beat around the bush. Tell him you have family needs to attend to and that the time committment right now is just too much. I'm sure he'll be more than supportive, and if he's not..would you really wanna work for him anymore?
