Possibly will have an opportunity to take on AD responsibilities at a larger high school along with my HC duties.
Anyone else out there doing FB HC and AD?
Advice? Pitfalls? Resources?

Did it for 9 years and truly enjoyed it. Became the Dean of Students this year - still HC for football. My 2 cents would be:
No teaching! or just a couple of weight lifting classes at most. Have a dedicated secretary for mailing, phone, data entry, etc. An Assistant AD is also nice to handle game day site manager duties. Head Coaches who are on board with the philosophy of the Department comes first.

I'm a HC/AD at a small school... my 2 cents:
Advice? Stay organized. Keep ahead on scheduling/hiring officials. I am working on 09-10 schedule right now. I do not do much AD work in the fall.
Pitfalls? Game supervision. I get a lot of help in the fall. I'll admit, I get tired of going to 30+ basketball games in the winter.
Resources? Get help from other admin. or staff during busy time (fall). Find a conference AD(s) who have their "poop in a group"... so to speak, and talk to them and see what things work well for them. One of the biggest issues is communication- when we have schools with new, rotating or incompetent ADs, I double check everything, though we might play at their place...
Little things like sending your athletic schedule out to every school you compete against (even if it is JV soccer only) will help- twice in 4 years our future opponent did not have us on the schedule I sent out (one game we even had to cancel). It is a lot easier to cancel a basketball game in June than in January- three days before the contest (I've seen that happen).
Stay organized, get help wherever and whenever you can... and good luck.
