Wondering what everyone else does for fund raising....as of right now we have numerous fund raisers but we feel like we could use more ( or a variety of sorts). We do the standard Varsity Gold type team/discount cards, a player labor auction and work concessions @ a nearby race track. I was also wondering if anyone has ever done a reverse raffle/dinner type event.
Thanks for your help/suggestions in advance.

The best we did this year was auction off the player's away jersey the week of homecoming. At the bonfire/pep rally we auction them off and the bidder's got to wear the jerseys to the different homecoming events. Small school with about 30 players and made over $900. I was worried we might not get the jerseys back but they all returned the next week. Very quick way to raise the $$ with very little work.

The last school I was at did the jersey auction every year for homecoming and that was our only fundraiser of the year. The local businesses put together a bunch of money to buy some of the jersey that wouldn't sell and then they could also use that money bid up some of the parents that could afford more. We also auctioned the game ball off as well. We normally made about 6000 for the night but it had been a tradition in the community for a long time.

Team Replica Jerseys ! ! !Coaches, We are finalizing a plan to offer Custom Replica Jerseys. These Jerseys will look like your existing jersey with sewn on number of your choce and a custom name sewn on the back. They will be a fully body jersey that will fit over sweatshirts for the fall weather and those beer guts of the dads. There is no risk in this fundraiser program, as all orders are taken and paid for in advance. We will supply you with an order form for your players as well as a webpage for your fans to place their orders via credit card. The final details of this program are being made and if you would like to reserve a spot to participate in this limited opportunity please PM me here. We anticipate teams will be able to make anywhere from $5 - $15 per jersey depending on how much you think you can sell them for. The nice thing is this will build spirit and keep those game jerseys safe for games. These are going to be nice quality replicas that your fans will be proud to wear. Thanks for reading and I look forward to hearing from you. Coach Rock coachrock@gmail.com

replica jerseys , neat idea.........I got to buy my "away" jersey after our Senior year......Ran across it in the spring closet cleaning, my 12 year old Daughter just laughed when I put it on and told her shoulder pads used to fit under it......The replica deal would be a nice deal to kids whos schools wont sell them the original ones..........would have been cool to wear my kids jersey at games if I could have.........Good Luck, looks like a great idea..........

The local Outback Steakhouse made us a great offer. They have a dinner at noon before the store opens and we sell tickets for $20. 100 % profit. The cooks and waitstaff work for tips and Outback donates the food. Sell the tickets and glad-hand for an hour and a half and we made about $2500.

dont think anyone here in sweden does fundraisers.. we work with different companies that need help, moving stuff, watching/guarding stuff/people.. for example my club (we dont have a school system here in sweden) are going to work with the city on the "national dag" (our "4th of july") we will fill 50.000 balloons and release them.. we also have security at the biggest horse race weekend in sweden elitloppet.. these types of work need from 20-200 people and we get anything from 50-200K SEK (about 10-40K USD)..

i have been part of a reverse raffle before.....as part of a mardi gras krewe.....
our style may not be allowed in your community....but we made a fortune.....
tickets were 30 dollars and this got you a buffet style meal and all the beer you could drink........some line coaches would love this....haha
also, we had door prizes and other mini raffles during the night......
all the members of our club had to do was keep the kegs tapped and keep fresh food on the buffett.........

If you PM me I will send you the consolidation of fund raising ideas from this board. I went through the messages that had anything to do with raising money. Put them into a Word file, added some that we do, and now have a 20+ page document that has quite a list of activities.
These were all taken from this board the first week of March, 2008, and are your ideas. I've added a few, but not many. This is not meant for resale or anything, it was just an interesting exercise. I just got tired of seeing things here and there. I'd post it here but don't think I have the ability to do so. If someone wants to post it I'll send it to them.

a reverse raffle is where you put all of the tickets in, and the winner is the last ticket drawn out of the barrel.......
if you have 400 tickets, it takes a while to get all of the tickets drawn out and announced.......most people will stay the entire time......you can take breaks every 20 minutes or so and draw for door prizes or play music........
it's amazing the door prize tickets you sell throughout the night.......especially when the line coaches get a few beers in 'em.....

These are some great ideas, thank you guys for sharing.
To add to the list, we've done a pop can drive (Iowa). It makes our program about 2,400.
An area school sells the yard lines on their field. At the end of each quarter, they announce to the fans what yard line the ball is on and who purchased it. They go to the press box to get 100.00 in chamber bucks. The yard lines are 50.00 to purchase. Good for our community and school.
I've seen schools get their school mascot or logo made into a stencil. The players then go house to house asking if the owner would like the school's mascot painted at the end of the drive, or where-ever. They can charge anywhere from 5-20 and makes the program great money.
Just some things I've seen or done. Coach W.

Hold a youth football camp. 2 days 2-3 hrs each day, Give out T-shirts to each participant for about $5 each. If you charge $50 for the camp and get 100 kids. Figure $45 for each kid and all profit. Sell waters or Gatorade for extra, sell team gear for extra money. Have the players work the camp with coaches.

We have a fun little game we play around here called Tips--a basketball shooting game. I've never seen it played anywhere but in our place and it has really caught on. I'm sure everyone has a game like it, though.
Anyway, we are having a Tips tournament next weekend. Should be interesting.
On a related subject, try hosting a 4,5,6 basketball tourney. Holy crap those bring in money.

Got a letter from a company called PDP. A testimonals list includes HS from all over the nation. Most of them claim to have raised about $10,000. It also says, "No Selling."
The problem is that it doesn't describe how that money was raised. Anyone know anything about PDP?

We don't use it but a friend of mine did and raised a lot of money and said it's easy.

PDP is a direct mailing company. Your team is told to go home and get addresses of people that will be getting letters. The letters are personalized with specific information about your football program, and what it is trying to raise funds for(sleds, uniforms, etc) PDP mails the letters, as well as a follow up thank you receipt, when someone sends in a donation. If you google PDP they will send you an informational dvd .

I started a Touchdown Club.
Anyone can join for an annual $25 fee.
With the membership money, we got each member something (year 1 we gave out hats, year 2 a polo shirt, etc.).
Members are then asked for a donation at the end of the season: $2 for every touchdown the team scores that season $2 for every safety scored $1 for every field goal
In the spring, you can have a BBQ and/or hay rack ride for the members - something special for those who help the program.
We have had success with this program. The coach I got the idea from has made as much as $10,000 in a season due to number of members and great performance.

It only took me about 30 minutes (15 minutes on day 1, 15 minutes on day 2) and it generated us over 3000! Pretty awesome when you consider the time committment. email me and I will tell you guys as much as I know about it.
