I met with a head coach last week who gives his assistants a coach's handbook prior to the season. It includes mission statement, tips on running drills, program policies, etc. I am looking at putting one of these together for my staff next year. As head coaches, what do you put in yours? As an assistant, what would be useful to see in a handbook? Does anybody have one i can see . . . just looking for some ideas.

I put the following items in the handbook for our coaches: contact info; roster with addresses & phone numbers; game & practice schedules; our league constitution; coaching code of ethics; 10 things yo don't learn in coaching school article; position drills & drill charts; O, D & ST playbooks; general info on taping, icing, etc.
I also give the parents a handbook that contains: intro letter; football: more than a game document; 16 tips for parenting in sports; team rule; code of conduct for players, coaches and parents; schedules; fundraising info; and maps & directions to away games.

Coach, You may want to check out some of the documents on the fast and furious football site. There's some good information at the following link if you don't have it already... fastandfuriousfootball.com/Coaching%20Material/Just trying to help!

the "TM Coaches Manual" is mine. This is what I put together for my head coach interview a few years back. Hopefully, somebody can get something from it -- I got the job by the way.

You need to contact a guy by the name of Chris Creighton at Wabash College - he has a champions manual he gives to the kids and one for the coaches - best I have ever seen.
