We played the 2 time defending state champs this past Friday from our classification. We knew going in we had an uphill climb.
We went into halftime down 14-6.
In the second half their depth and ability began to wear us down and they started to pull away.
Late in the game I looked up and we were down 41-6 as they scored their last touchdown. But, the score jumped to 53.
I had only glanced at the score before and assumed that maybe it really said 47 and the lights were out and I thought the 7 was a 1.
So they missed the extra point and the final was 53-6.
But, upon watching film... the official keeping the score gave them an extra 6 on their last touchdown.
Obviously the final outcome is not a big deal... as whats another td matter in such an already big gap...
But... the officials just had a strike before the season about getting more money... such a potential big time flaw should be routine to catch and fix.
Anyone ever seen such a thing before?
Am I wrong to think that 47-6 feels a little better than 53-6? lol

The 50 number would upset me but I don't think it's much of a deal. If you cause a fuss about it even though it didn't change the outcome of the game at all (besides the final score but you know what I mean, the winner) imagine how that makes you look

Just going to let the assigning secretary know about it. Some leagues actually use points differential vs common opponents as a means of breaking a ties for 1st or 2nd teams in district... and that second team gets in the playoffs an the 3rd team doesn't. So it could be a big deal in certain leagues. I think the main thing that bothers me is how they toyed with ruining the whole season for kids in our state for a few $$$ and they come out in the season after getting their money and making such mistakes... now more than ever before they need to be on top of their game.

Given the blowout situation, I wonder if it was a case of the scoreboard operator not paying attention and forgetting he had already put the 6 up originally?

You chould have asked the ref at the time and he would have checked his card..
Depends how soon you realised

I would say the Back up clock operator had taken over by then and he double clicked the +6 button accidentally and no one cared enough to corrected it. The officials seldom fix the score unless the sidelines are barking!!
