Long drives have always interested me. As a player it wasn't uncommon for us to take 8 or 9 minutes off the clock...it was something we took pride in. Nowadays with all the up tempo it seems like this has become more and more rare.
From what I have read, one of the longest drives in modern NCAA history came from Navy in the 2004 Emerald bowl, when they took almost 15 minutes off the clock on a 26 play 94 yd drive.
Just wondering what are some of the longest drives you all have ever seen or been apart of (in terms of time off the clock and/or number of plays).
Looking forward to hearing some good stories.

The longest I remember having was an 18 play drive that took off about 8 clock minutes. We actually had the ball from the middle of the 3rd to a part of the 4th quarter.
We weren't necessarily stalling. It was more a factor of perseverance and lucky breaks.
There were a lot of 3rd down conversions, and penalties to over come, but all of that factored into time usage.

We ran the Wishbone in HS. We received the kickoff to start the 3rd quarter and, due to stupid returners, we started the drive at the 3 yard line. We went 97 yards in 11:40. Almost used up the entire 3rd quarter (12 minute quarters in CA). We prided ourselves on 3 yards and a cloud of dust. We kicked the ball off and the other team ran the return back for a TD ... LMAO. 6 points is 6 points, whether it took 12 minutes or 12 seconds.

We took 11 minutes off the clock once in the 4th quarter of a game in 2011. Really disgusting thing was we didn't score and lost 15-12.

Had a 13 play 9 minute drive from the 3rd to the 4th this year. Finished that game winning TOP 34-14. That one felt good, haven't done anything like it since unfortunately.

we had a 22 play drive to start our game on offense this week. Our offense had 3 possessions in the 1st half and scored all three times..unfortunately the other team had 4 possession and also scored 3 times..we went into halftime tied 17-17..we figured some stuff out and went on to win 31-24 and had a couple of nice 3 and outs. it was a great old time football game w/ about 3000 fans on a Friday night vs our crosstown rival..fun stuff

IDK how many plays it was, but we played last night after getting rained out Friday. And in the 3rd qtr our offense ran 5 plays sandwiches around two long drives.

I was a part of a 20 play drive as a sophomore in high school, so 14 or 15 years ago . Don't remember how much time it took off the clock but it was around 85 yards or so. We were a split back veer team. I don't know if that's considered "modern " anymore though, I'm having to come to terms with my age a lot recently.

When I was in college we possessed the ball the entire first quarter and scored in the first play of the second quarter.
Converted on a few fourth downs, had a bad snap on a punt , the punter scrambles for a first down. Converted a fake punt. Lined up for a field goal and mised but the defense was off side and gave us a new set of downs . Which we eventually scored on it was a hot day We were gassed I think we won 7-6

Someone mentioned that these type of things take luck......I agree.
They are indeed rare.

Just a few weeks ago we were playing in a torrential downpour after a 60 minute lightning delay. We were up by 10 on our 2nd drive in the 3rd quarter. Had the ball for 10+ minutes and had a few drives early that were 6+ minutes. Did nothing but ground and pound, we had no choice really. Field was a puddle, QB center exchange was difficult enough. Just had our slowest RB just chug out yards.
I think the time of possession ended up being 32 to 16 or something crazy like that.
