I'm seeing something here that I think is weird. I'm seeing questions where guys wonder what the Head Coach means by something. You don't have to challenge him in public but I don't understand why guys don't just ask.

On all coaching staffs, every single coach from freshman up to varsity are in it together. Of course there may be personality differences and philosophical differences between coaches, but I would never see myself coaching for anotehr coach or being an HC where feedback from other coaches is not acceptable.
Have I second guess decisions made by my former HC's? Of course, you bring it up in the appropriate manner, listen to their rationale/explanation, if you agree great, if you don't, great, and then you move on.
I have been a part of staffs where some coaches were very stubborn and had the "my way or the highway" mentality. Those teams were not very successful. Teams where coaches challenge each other decisions (in a respectable manner) have always been more successful.

I have , at times, been accused of listening too much. I detest micro-managing so I'd rather err on feedback. I worked for a head coach early in my career who looked at my scouting notes (yes, we used to have just those) and tossed them in the garbage when he thought I wasn't looking. He wasn't very successful and I hope people would say we are. I still can't get my assistants to talk to the press much, though. I wish they would.

Afraid somebody knowing they don't know, not having an answer. It takes a good look in the mirror to admit to yourself you are not as good as you think. And I am speaking from personal experience.

I never got it, I'd rather people be straight forward and ask me or talk to me about an issue and I do the same. We are adults, shouldn't be hard to do.

Malcolm Gladwell on Korean Airline accidents Korean Air had more plane crashes than almost any other airline in the world for a period at the end of the 1990s. When we think of airline crashes, we think, Oh, they must have had old planes. They must have had badly trained pilots. No. What they were struggling with was a cultural legacy, that Korean culture is hierarchical. You are obliged to be deferential toward your elders and superiors in a way that would be unimaginable in the U.S. But Boeing (BA, Fortune 500) and Airbus design modern, complex airplanes to be flown by two equals. That works beautifully in low-power-distance cultures [like the U.S., where hierarchies aren't as relevant]. But in cultures that have high power distance, it’s very difficult. I use the case study of a very famous plane crash in Guam of Korean Air. They’re flying along, and they run into a little bit of trouble, the weather’s bad. The pilot makes an error, and the co-pilot doesn’t correct him. But once Korean Air figured out that their problem was cultural, they fixed it. link

I like when you talk or ask things trying to better yourself or others and they get upset. I have an assistant coach who comes to the game with nothing. No templates, notes, etc. I emailed him like 10 items in the off-season to utilize after providing it for him the last 3 years. Over the last 5 weeks it has been clear he is not prepared. I went ahead and printed the handouts again, brought him his own scouting report, made him cut-ups, etc. Then gets to the game and when I am on the field and he is in the box is busting my b***s to another coach about the folder of materials I gave him. The other coach who I work with just laughed and said "you don't get it".
Communication....always funny these days. Adults are just as bad as kids.

Our coaching staff had a meeting with everyone can cleared the air on everyone's role with the team. Who calls what, who does what, etc, etc,. I think if you all man up, face each other, and have the chain of command established, stuff works out with as little problems you can imagine.
Some times egos and stuff get in the way but you learn to raise any issues with the head coach professionally and work it out.
