As you can tell by the posting time, it's a bit late. I just had the pleasure of coaching a game that lasted 7 hours, start to finish. 7:30 kick off. Final horn sounded at 2:27. We had 2 storm delays. We were on the road. Home team wouldn't call the game, suspend the game, and would only take a forfeit by us.
We're up 7-0 at the end of the 1st quarter. Getting ready to start the 2nd, BOOM, refs send everybody to the locker room. Well, buses for us because the ydon't have a visiting locker room. 2 and 1/2 hours later we start the 2nd quarter at 10:46. We play the 2nd and go to half time up 21-7. Shortened half time, make a couple of quick adjustments, hustle back out to warm up, BOOM, we get sent back to the buses.
Still no postponement, called game, etc..... We can forfeit or call the game a draw or play it. We kick off the second half at 1:21 AM Saturday morning. Luckily there is no more bad weather, we give up a couple cheap ones with the scrubs in the game and win 49-20. There were actually a couple dozen fans in the stands on both sides until the end.
The stadium is in a bowl, so the boxes were only 1 story off the ground on the parking lot side. As we watched the lightning, thunder, and rain; people would pull up and yell to us, "it's been 30 minutes, is the game starting back up yet?" You've got to give the fans credit, it's great football town.
Wifey will be up in a couple of hours to head out of town for the weekend, so good night.

At least y'all got the win!
And the kids got a cool experience too. Not many can say they played a real game of high school football at 2 in the morning!

Yeah, nobody around town is talking about the crazy good no where to go reverse flow run for a TD on 3rd down our RB had. Everyone's talking about playing until 230 in the morning.

That sounds kind of awesome. I'd love to win a game like that. Something you'll always remember.

IMO, if anybody deserved to have the score run up on them-and I'm not saying that you did- it was them.

Our super was really concerned. Hadn't eaten since 3:45 pregame, was a hot humid before the cold front rolled through, etc..... He wanted (and the coaches) it wasn't an injury situation/concern. Super got us some late night cheeseburgers to give the kids. We had plenty of gator water for the kids, plus we do a half time snack.
Probably affected the kids less than the coaches.
