How does an assistant get hired and what must he go through? Is it like a comittee selects you along with the HC, or just the HC period?
Next is how you become a Coordinator? Is it more to it than just the HC?

generally, the head coach interviews coaches for an assistant's position. the interview may include x's & o's, philosophy, discussing things on the resume, goals, ideas, etc. the head coach then usually recommends the assistant for the position to the next level (sometimes several). these "levels" may include the principal, human resources, a committe, etc.

Ohter places it might be a little different.

I agree alot of times its not always what you know but who. My HS coach gave me my first coaching gig after i got out of college. Started coaching at the freshman level and now 9 years later I am the DC.
