My question is are they worth it?
we would take about 25 kids.
350 a piece
3 days- 7 practices
i think we would have to foot the bill for most of the kids like 90%.
basically the majority of our money we raise would have to go to it.
thoughts?

At my old school last year, our team went about 3-4 hours south of us and it was definitely worth it (however, we did not have to foot the bill by 90% like in your situation). I feel like the most important thing that we got out of it was team building and team chemistry. One night we would do skits for each grade level as well as the coaches and the HC would be the judge (We coaches won of course!). We also had a night where the seniors and coaches would go up and talk about whatever was on their minds on the last night as well as our HC sharing his personal story as well as having a "secret" talk with the seniors.
I feel like this helped the team bond and get so much closer than the year before. The team/seniors the year before was far more talented but didn't seem to have the fellowship and bond that this team did. This team last year may not have had the most talent, but we knew that they would run off a cliff for each other no matter the consequence. This was huge for us imo and something to think about.
However, 90% is a huge number and can definitely be used towards other needs.

$350 a piece? I hope KY prices never go that high.
Check around with other colleges.
One thing we did with our kids this year was have them college dimes. They say a 20 ounce bottle full of dimes is $100. It isn't!!! It's actually close to $120. Each kid was given five months to collect their own bottle.
We'll cover the rest of the price which won't be much. Some kids just wrote checks to us which is better for us (no counting).

We go to a bible camp that has a park right next door that we can set up a field on. go for 2 nights 3 days. use it for our first couple noncontact days. Helps us get the kids away from the city and focus on being with each other and on football. we fundraise for it as well. really helps us get together as a team and a coaching staff.

I definitely think their are benefits to going away to a team camp- camaraderie, focus, brotherhood etc... that you can't get anywhere else. Our program has never been able to pull-off a feat like this, so we actually host a day camp here at the school. You miss out on the little things mentioned above just by nature of the camp (kids get dropped off in the morning and picked up in the afternoon).
Our kids and program just can't afford to go and stay somewhere...

It's also amazing for completion and evaluation. Without it we used to find out week one we had a few guys that maybe didn't like contact that much. We figure that out in July now.
Also for our kids who rarely leave their neighborhood let alone city it is a great opportunity to help them get a feel for college experiences. We have kids come back much more focused in the class and on the field bc they can now visualize being on a campus somewhere.
And 350 is too much. Look around. Most we ever pay is 190.

Team camp is a great experience, but $350? No way. Check around, you should be able to find some in the $200 range. 3 days is perfect--longer than that and both you and the players will be worn out.
