Just something I have noticed. I really like defense and consider myself to be "smarter" on that side of the ball. However, I prefer to talk about offense on the board. I think offense is more interesting to talk about, because to me defense is just alignment, assignment, and then shed the block and make a play. Unless you are talking about a specific style of offense and how you attack it otherwise, defense is limited to being able to align to everything. Therefore it makes it hard to just talk about. Thoughts?

I'd agree....hence, it can be considerably a lot 'easier' to coach defense.

I think defense is harder to do myself, just because of all the variables an offense can throw at you formation wise that the defense has to be able to adjust to on the run.
If you screw it up on offense, it is most of the time a bad play or just a wasted down. If you screw it up on defense it is a touchdown.

I find that technique is talked about more with defense than offense. Just like you said after assignement and alignment, technique becomes the backbone of any D. I like to hear about techniques and drills more than anything.
I haven't done much on offense since high school. Althought I listen in to our offensive coaches all the time when they are talking.

Ill add that when you get into certain os vs certain ds...its the old "he who holds the chalk last wins"...I like to discuss both...keeps me sharp...but it is fun to discuss blocking schemes and that sort of thing.

i agree with tog..i spent the previous 13 seasons on the offensive side and had to DC this year... it was a very valuable learning experience, but if you missed something it was usually 6 points.
