Coaches
Just looking for some thoughts on how you might handle this situation. After 8 years of being a head and running the O I am going to step back to try to help out the D as well. I am looking forward to this but don't want my "OC" to loose my philsophical beliefs under the new staffing expectations. Give me your thougts on how to approach it, all will be appreciated.

Tell him "this is my philosophy, i want us to do this, this and that... can you coach this?" ...and this is why the title isnt "everyones best friend" right? Lay it out, spell it out and hold him to it. What else can you do?

Is he going to be your OC, or are you just giving him a title? Yes, spell out your expectations, but don't become a micro manager, especially if you're going to be busy calling the D. If he's truly going to be your OC, trust him to do what's best for the team and let him go. As HC you'll still be involved with game planning and have the ultimate say in calls. Communicate, communicate, and then, communicate!
