Senior night is coming up for most of us this week or next, and I was curious to see if anyone had any special things they did on the field pregame to honor their senior players. In the past, I would have the PA read a sheet with stats about the player, as well as their favorite bible verse (Christian school) and something funny like the players celebrity crush. Just trying to make this night as special as possible.

We do the typical ceremony where each player lines up on the field with his parents while the PA announcer calls their name, reads off how many years they've played, introduces their escort, and tells what they plan to do after graduation and reads a short 1 sentence message of thanks/advice from them. It's nice.
As a player, we did something similar at school, with the cheerleaders providing us with corsages to present to our moms during the ceremony.

Most people, I think, do fairly similar things: we line up the parents on the field and then call the players' names and who is there to represent them. The players walk out as their name is called and present a rose to their parents. I do not like to do comments, etc, about players--they all should be the same on senior night in my opinion. After the football players are all introduced, we leave the field and they do the band and cheerleaders. We do this pregame, starting football about 30 minutes before game time. It's a dignified ceremony.
At my previous game, we did the same thing. Player's numbers were painted along the sideline. All of their numbers--and initials for cheerleaders, etc, were painted on the hill overlooking the field.

For a couple of years we had the Senior dads come into the locker room for our pregame talk prior to going out for warm-up. It only took a couple of minutes and really didn't interfere with anything we did. It was emotional for some and some were ready to run through a wall. Had no negative effects on our play.
