Does anyone find that being critical of coaching / decisions is on the rise?
It seems like everyone has an opinion, deservedly so, on play calls and decision making of coaches. Very little, if any, is ever put on players performing.
I really welcome criticisms from others, but I notice that it seems to be on the rise from Jr High to the NFL....
Everyone seems to have some fundamental knowledge of this great game, and I don't know if it's the ESPN "insider" shows that offer a Nicolodean version of coordinating a football team to make it look as easy as selecting a play from a Video Game screen - point and click....
One thing we've done this year, is invite parents to a pizza buffet on Sunday nights to watch the game films. It gets them all together and create some unity, and also (the best part) is for them to ask questions about decisions and such. The BEST part is if they say "why didn't you pass the ball? / why didn't you run the ball?". Then you can offer up the rationale behind a call, and other times OTHER PARENTS will / can gang up on the others "HEY! That kid isn't playing bad....I think..." and defuse a lot of the bickering that normally would go on in closed, sociopathic corners to undermine a program.

You will always have the critics, as a 30 year veteran, I just focused on the team, preparation and be nice with a smile. Also, always let the kids know that you truly care about them, especially in hard times. Don't waste valuable energy on critics. Work hard, be prepared to the best of your ability and circle the wagons when necessary. jr235
