I make sure all the offensive coaches understand our offense prior to the start of the season. We go through each play and discuss each position during each play. Each position coach will tell us how he is going to coach each technique, read, key etc.. for each play. We talk about practice breakdown on what drills are effective and how much of each drill will be used in our 2 a day practices, in-season weekly practices, etc...

depends on how you define "coaching coaches".
i mean, we were a new staff this past season. the offense we run is one that i (& another coach) and run at our previous school. the other offensive coaches had not run the exact same offense. so, i guess you could say i "coached" the OL coach & the RB coach on our offense (this is what we call Zone, this is what we call 5-step protection, etc.) but I DID NOT "coach them" on how to coach their positions. it was more like: 'we are gonna call counter trey left 27 GT - now, ya'll get it taught'....blah, blah.

I've found the easier way is to just sit down and play dumb.
Ask for their input and start phrasing your way to what you want - at least that way you're not preaching to them and they tune you out. The big thing is - Learn from each other.
I've tried giving videos, books, etc.....but if they werent' looking for it from the get-go, they ain't gonna look at it when you GIVE it to them.
Clinics, shop-talk-over-a-beer, and watching film together is what is the biggest help.
How much time do we spend? I dunno....it's constant....How much time do I spend coaching MYSELF? Too much time to audit there.

We meet Thursday and Friday before practice starts and go over everything. My first year at the school I do most of the talking. We have also met once a month in the winter and once a week after conditioning in July the first year if necessary.
After the first year on Thursday and Friday I cover organization and the Xs and Os, emphasizing any changes. Then the assistants give clinic-type presentations to the rest of the staff on how to coach their individual positions.
At our Sunday in-season meetings I will present my proposed game plan versus opponents' offense and defense ("coaching the coaches" again for that week). After we watch film I ask for any additional ideas or input from them.

I think on a good staff, you coach each other on a daily basis. When I say coaching, I mean sit down and talk about things just like you would on this message board.

About 2 weeks before Summer Camp starts, we get together as a staff, and go over our terminology, as well as any adjustments we want to do from the previous year. We meet for about 1-2 hours a day, until we feel that we are ALL on the same page. Before we did this, we noticed the kids would get confused, because 3 coaches would be teaching them the same techniques/reads/keys, but we had 3 different terminologies for them. This way, all the coaches are using the same terms, and the players are less confused, as well as the coaches.

we usually have a 2 day 12hr session covering everything, our seasoned coaches will put packets together on their specialty and hand them out to all coaches then discuss everything from terminology to player responsibility, work outs ect are on another day before season starts

I'm the DC of a championship team and I sit with the head coach about 3 times a week to watch film, talk scheme, etc. It's not a planned sitdown, but it's kind of just what we do. Usually watch and talk for only an hour, but put some notes down, get our ideas always moving forward.

1. Blow my whistle in their ears 2. Threaten to not allow them any water breaks 3. Make them do up-downs if they forget to teach something 4. Yell a lot 5. Tell them if they screw up again, they'll be coaching from the bench
That's pretty much what works for us.
