Tog,
I try to get to one D-I school a year. I think clinics are good but there is a lot of clinic talk. Do not get me wrong clinics are helpful, but if you have the chance to spend some time at a D-I school it is great because your able to pick their brains and most coaches are great. My best experience was with Dick Tomey at the University of Arizona. He is an all around good person took the time to set down with you and talk about his experience at his level. I have been to almost every Pac 10 school. Spent some time a Nebraska and Clemson. Also, when you spend time with other staffs it reinforces what you teach as a coach.

well, after meeting with coachjd today we had a great time
we have a lot of similar ideas about offense, but just enough different to give each other good ideas to think about
i can think of about 5 or 6 little technique things I am going to use, and about 3-4 plays that we tweeked around with that would be great little wrinkles to our base gun stuff, also, some basic scheme things to consider for down the road

tog, if your serious about the fly sweep stuff, you need to make a trip to Willamette Univ. in Salem, Oregon. We made the trip this year and had a blast. Learned lots of football, as far as the Fly Offense is concerned and they also do some defensive stuff. We picked up a soft cover 2 last year from them. Coach Speckman is a great speaker and is a lot of fun. The other speakers did a great job as well, guys from all up and down the west coast. Had a great time. Would like to go again.

I try and get to 2 or 3 colleges per year to watch film and talk to their OC and OL coaches. I also try to visit with as many HS coaches as possible.
Great day of talking football TOG!!! Spent about an hour last night putting a progression together on the GT!
How was the weather on the way home? I ran into some pretty tough weather with high winds, hail and horizontal rain.

homer, do they do any of it from the gun?
jd, i got sprinkled on, but there were some big thumpers on either side of me all the way home
glad you made it back home ok
i really liked the drive, the scenery, the big sky and the green, and was thinking about your guard pull on the counter with the roll of the hand (you need to make a post about this in the run game and secondary sections) after thinking about that more and adding a skip with that for the guard, that might be how i run gt when we get back, both of those things might get them up in the line more and get some more oooomph for the kickout
got home and started drawing up the backdoor dart play, and it looks good, especially with some jets

They are just now starting to dabble with it out of the gun. We worked all spring out of the gun, and like it. Our QB runs really well, and the backside dart was a great play for us, as well as speed-o backside. We ran the dart to the sweep side also and it was nice, especially when the pslb is reading the rb fly out to block for the sweep.
