Im going on my 1st HC interview and i would like to hear any suggestions from AD or HC to give me an edge on the other candidates. Im a young and knowledgeable coach who is willing to spend the time to turn a non-competitive team into a contending program. Thanks

Be prepared, be yourself. I would have a packet put together for each member of the comittee that has your philosophies, team rules, off-season, playbook examples, etc... with the school name and colors on the front cover. Know the info in the packet inside and out. I read on another thread on this board, that the coach kept a copy of the contents with the page numbers in front of him. When a question came up he would refer them to the page number and then answer the question.
Good Luck and let us know how everything shakes out.

Must agree with the two previous post. You must be yourself as coachjd said. Also make sure you know the community and school, do some extra research. Best of Luck!

I AM IN THE SAME BOAT AS YOU. YOUNG GUY LOOKING FOR MY FIRST JOB.
1. HAVE A HARD COPY OF YOUR PROGAM READY FOR EVERYONE YO ARE GOING TO INTERVIEW WITH.
2. HAVE A COPY FOR YOURSELF FOR REFERENCE.
3. BE READY FOR THE OLD, "WHY SHOULD WE CHOOSE YOU OVER SOMEONE WITH EXPERIENCE, YOU HAVE NO EXPERIENCE." QUESTION.
4. IF IT'S A TOUGH SCHOOL BE PREPARED FOR SITUATIONAL QUESTIONS LIKE,
WHAT WOULF YOU DO IF A KID CUSSES AT YOU? WHAT DO YOU DO IF YOUR STAR PLAYER IS INELIGIBLE FOR A WEEK? WHAT DO YOU DO ABOUT FIGHTS.
HOPE IT HELPS.

All good advice.
I will reiterate that being yourself is the key. You may be a great coach and person, but not all jobs are the right fit. If you try too hard to get the job and thus tell them what you think they want to hear you'll eventually be unhappy. Let them know the real you and if they choose you then you can decide if you want the job.
