Disappointed--Someone will get an excellent OL coach.

was at the Hamline clinic today in St. Paul and Coach Brewster and 6 assistant coaches stormed the clinic after the 2nd to last session and did a quick great and meet with about 80 high school coaches. It was very impressive.

JD--I didn't see you at the clinic. You must have been sitting in the back with the other trouble makers. You are right. It was very impressive and definitely not what we are used to seeing. He had a genuine interest in building that instant bond with the coaches. Brewster seems very confident, positive, and determined. I was skeptical at first due to the lack of coordinator or head coaching experience. Everything he has said and done since he arrived has been refreshing. If he can surround himself with top rate assistants, the U will take that next step. He is a great salesman for U football and that was exactly what he was hired to be. He had everyone's blood pumping by the time he left. I felt bad for Kim Nelson after Brewster left. That was a tough act to follow.

I told the Albany coaches the same thing, tough act to follow. Kim did a great job even though he had to go old school with his presentation. He is very creative in his thinking of the spread offense. Very simple with concepts but using multiple formations with the majority being formations that most teams never see.

Coach Lamker just went through the footwork for the QB. Very good stuff. He keeps it very simple for kids to pick up IMO. I did not take a ton of notes on his presentation because most of it was video of the footwork he uses on the 3 step drop.

One of my assistants stayed for Lemker's presentation. He said the same thing--lots of video & little notes to take. Good presentation & he took a few things he can use for our QB's. Sorry coach, I wish I had some notes to send your way.

be interesting to see what direction caoch brewster goes in offense. when he coaches high school they threw the ball. at texas they were sort of spread but then he worked in denver wtih the zone blocking.
the gophers are set up for zone blocking. that was mason's big thing. inside zone, outside zone with pullers. mason hated power o or counter g/t.

he offered Rob Spence the OC at Clemson the OC/Assist head coach position but Spence turned it down. Spence is a big zone guy.

he offered Rob Spence the OC at Clemson the OC/Assist head coach position but Spence turned it down. Spence is a big zone guy. rob spence is what ever you want to be guy. hofstra spread and run and shoot. la tech spread, toledo mixture of spread adn zone run, now at clemson he is sort of the same. I figured if he was going to stay with the zone he would have kept coach shaw and coach browning.
