I am looking for any info anybody has on coaching in Maine. Is it a teaching / coaching state or is it separate. How's the pay and how is the football? Thank you in advance.

I don't know much of anything about football in Maine, but if you ever learn what the Biddeford "Lobster Bowl" is, I would love to know, it has bothered me my whole life.

It's their East vs. West senior all-star game in the summer sponsored by the Shriners. Biddeford in where the game is played. Massachusetts (where I am) has a senior all-star game in the summer as well (North vs. South) sponsored by the Shriners. Both benefit Shriner's hospitals and charities.

Maine is a great place to coach. There are some very good programs there with fewer schools offering football the further north you choose to go as the population spreads out. The Portland area has larger schools and play very competitive high school football.
You can easily play your last few games in each season in some cold weather and even some snow, but that is probably true in any northern state.
From my rememberances, they have both football coaches in the schools with teaching jobs and "outsiders" (non teachers) as well. I am sure that this will depend upon the number of teaching positions available in a particular school district.
