I took over as a head coach of a program very recently. One of the things that I would like to do is change the locker room. There is nothing on the walls but a white board. My staff and I are going to paint it school colors, but does anyone have any advice on how to cheaply transform a locker room. I have been looking for signs to post in the locker room, you know the ones with motivational sayings, but cannot find a place to purchase them. When the kids come in for practice in a few weeks we want them to see some change and understand that the attitude will be different. What do you do?

I don't know where you are located but the Texas High School Coaches Association annual coaching school is next week in Fort Worth and they always have plenty of affordable signs. I will try to get a web page for you when I am there. Another affordable idea is to find the sayings that you want online and then print it how you want it and send them to Kinkos and have them make a sign out of it.

We made a bunch on my computer and then send them to the district printing office who printed them up 11x14 and then laminated them. So they weren't huge but it was cheap and effective as we had a bunch made up. Used pictures from the year before with motivational sayings. Found others oline. etc etc...

One of our kids had a pretty cool picture of him running the ball on a sweep that a teacher had took on the sidelines. He was telling us how it would be cool to make it into a poster. So after some googling, I found this: homokaasu.org/rasterbator/![](http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/gallery/i/8792.jpg) We printed out about 12 sheets and hung them in the coaches office. When he saw it, he about soiled his shorts. After that all the kids were having their pictures blown up in computer lab.

Print your sayings on a transparency and project it on the wall. Then all you have to do is trace it and paint it. I think painted sayings on the wall, if done right, look much better.

Coach, Painting sayings on the wall are classier than printed sayings. However, they are time intensive and have to be redone due to aging. Try the printing and laminating first to see how the kids react. Have the painting done by the art class as a project or the seniors to be next year doing the painting.
