Why does everyone always have to have one slogan?... we have many. Well, I am not a big proponent of slogans, BUT to answer your question, if you have many...do you really have any? (Kind of like the NFL qb cliche'). Not to be confused with coaching cues, SLOGANS, team mottos etc... are supposed to be a unifying force. If you have a bunch, then do you really have a central theme or a bunch of cliches.

So if you don't have one, we're in the same boat.... We do a word of the week and focus on quotes and definitions from that word each day.

Ask your players what they want their team to be known as. You might get something like Nasty, Tenacious, Family.
Use their input to create something that you heard a bunch of, or some sort of acronym.
You can create any slogan or motto you want, but if it doesn't mean anything to the players your are just saying words.

"Necessity being the mother of invention," best slogans suggest themselves ("spring to mind") to fit the situation otherwise they lack meaning or sincerity and are ineffective, just words.

This year: "work fight bleed win" last year: "We are one" 2 years ago: "Win the day"
Didn't do them prior to that. Started doing them because I always heard other teams chants and my team was standing around like morons... wanted them to have that "moment"
prior to that I felt much about the slogan Idea as a lot of you... however, since doing them I have grown to love them. I can always tell who my leaders are during our break down in practice... They don't care about how corny things sound or look... I also will add that chants/slogans are always a bit stupid until game day

Fast / hard. / finish
I think it's just a concise way of drilling home the core values of your team.
I try to have a theme each year that I usually pull from something I've been reading the core message. / values don't change the context just does year to year.
This year the context I'm pulling from is Malcolm Galdwell's "David. & Goliath

My last school's slogan was "Find a Way."
By midseason there, it seemed to me like it was an unintentional admission of our confusion and lack of leadership.

Ours this year is "We're all we got, We're all we need".
We decided to cut our varsity roster to just 30 players so the slogan reinforces the fact that while we may not have the numbers other teams have it wont matter because we have each other.
Honestly I stole the slogan from the Miami Hurricanes when I went out to watch them practice in the spring.

"If it's too tough for everyone else, it's just right for us"
"V=N^3Q". Which means victory equals never never never quit
Not a huge fan of the second, but I was on a team that used it. Had it on t shirts and bracelets.

"Necessity being the mother of invention," best slogans suggest themselves ("spring to mind") to fit the situation otherwise they lack meaning or sincerity and are ineffective, just words. Along this same sentiment, I think one of the mistakes that coaches make is that they create a slogan and force the team to fit within it, as opposed to finding out the personality of their team and creating something that fits them. (Square peg, round hole) analogy. I always waited to see what type of traits my team displayed and then found the words to compliment their actions and/ or behaviors.
