I would like to see how everyone handles helmet stickers. What does a kid have to do to accrue one? What is your particular program to hand out helmet stickers?

We have gone away from individual helmet awards and focused more on team oriented goals.
We set up 10 offensive, defensive, and kicking goals with a team focus
For example: offense - 150 yards passing, 100 yards rushing, 100% scoring in the red zone defense - hold opponent under 14 points, force 2 or more turnovers, less than 3 yards per rush kicking - no blocked kicks, 100% pat's, net punt of 30 yards
We felt this would allow for for more development of our team first focus. It allows more players to get involved, be recognized, and increase their feeling/role on our team.
We have a coach tally over the previous weekend and we will handout either at our Monday meeting prior to practice or Friday before our walk-through. We call out the players name and number of stickers overall. We also recognize a scout team player of the week, and a varsity impact player of the game for offense, defense, and kicking.

Heres a snap shot of ours: I borrowed this form a similar program as shared here or another forum
Off season:
1 star for every 10% workouts attended 5 stars for captain status 1 skull for over 500 lbs (bench squat deadlift) add 1 skull for every 50 lbs added to total 5 skulls for various weight room challenges met skull for pass knocked down skull for man coverage shutouts team defense shutout skull and any other goals for week
in season:
scout team player of week= skull for defense/star for offense 3 tackles= skull interception= skull sack- skull forced fumble/fumble rec= skull blocked kick= skull 100 yads rush/rec= star star per reception star per five comp no int thrown/no fumbles per 10 carries= star tds/pats/conv= star linemen get stars for 250 yards rushing and for first downs (one per five) and no sacks allowed stars for team offense goals for week
additional stickers can be purchased and used for incentives - footballs/superman stickers/hammers/ flags and so on- we are married to anything and I take suggestions but I don't give stickers for "good enough" - we try to set standards.

most of mine is weight room and camp set up, they get a stripe for 20 workouts, a sticker for each day of two weeks of camp, a big p for attending both camps, then during the season they all get a sticker for a win, that's basically it, since they all get a panther for the sides of their helmet there isn't a lot of room for extra stickers, I am trying to stay away from individual stickers for game stuff, I use to do all the stuff coach2013 does, but going to make it simple this first year, may do that next year, I use to put the emblem on the left, then stripe, and then the other side was left for individual stickers

The kids all want to peel the stickers off their helmets at the end of the season or buy their helmets because they look great.

We too only give out stickers for team things.
Offense- TDs- everyone on the field for each TD gets a sticker- JV gets them when they score in a varsity game 300yds rushing- everyone 150yds passing- everyone 450 total yds offense- everyone No turnovers- everyone
Defense- 3 turnovers- everyone t Fumble recovered- everyone INT- everyone Defensive score- everyone Less than 150yds offense- everyone that played defense at any time during during the game Less than 100yds offense- everyone that played defense at any time during during the game x2 Shutout- everyone that played defense at any time during the game x2
Special Teams- Score- everyone on the field at that time Blocked kick- FG/EPT/Punt- everyone
Team- Everyone on the team gets one for each varsity win
This is just off the top of my head. You go through a lot of stickers, but we don't like to recognize individuals. This way everyone ends up with some stickers, but your studs still end up with the most without some of the other kids feeling like leftovers.
We're also probably going to hand out stickers to our scout team players this year for when they're doing a good job on scout. Last year the scout team took on the persona of the Missiles and I think we're going to hand out white missile stickers this fall for when they make a nice play.

Hopefully it will give incentive to everyone to work their butt off and it will give me an opportunity to recognize some guys that aren't getting their names in the paper.

We go back to the beginning of the spring semester of the previous year. We check grades at the end of the 9 weeks and the end of the spring semester. We give 3 stars for every A, and 2 stars for every B. That's it. I haven't lost a kid to grades since I started this 4 years ago.

I would like to see how everyone handles helmet stickers. What does a kid have to do to accrue one? What is your particular program to hand out helmet stickers? Everyone gets 2 stickers to start the year. One goes on the right side, the other on the left side. I prefer they both face the correct way but that is asking a lot. Any more stickers than that and it gets to be a huge pain in the butt and pi$$ing Match about who gets what and why.

We do it a lot like coach2013. last year we tried the team goals for stickers thing. the kids hated it and didn't get as hyped about it as they did the year before. Therefore, this year we are going back to the individual stickers. One rule we have though regardless is that stickers only come after a win. NO Win = No stickers.

This has been hashed out before (and the threads always turn out the same) coachhuey.com/thread/58664/reward-stickers coachhuey.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=4132 coachhuey.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=7039 coachhuey.com/thread/53450/helmet-decal-system?scrollTo=522902&page=1
A brief overview of my thoughts Individual Stickers--Nothing happens in a vacuum in football, therefore any "individual" achievement are the result of multiple individual efforts. Bad
"Group" stickers-- The vacuum argument still holds a bit of water here, plus the added headache of issues such as substitution among other things.
"Team" stickers--great...bullet proof from arguing, but if EVERYONE is getting one..aren't we just decorating helmets.
If you have to give stickers... i think academic rewards, and offseason workout rewards would be the only stickers I would give.

We give them out for effort in practice and for good grades, that's it. I don't give them out for anything else.
Every Wednesday I run a grade check. All C's or better they get one decal, all A's, they get two decals.
At the end of every practice, each coach gives out a decal to the player they felt like gave the best effort at practice. This could be a star or scout teamer.
The idea is we are constantly rewarding effort, both on the field and in the classroom. I feel like that will make us better as a team, and we want to recognize the kids that are working hard so that other kids will want the same recognition.
The decals we use are color blocks. We have navy helmets so we give out silver bars and they link together to silver out part of our helmet.
