Curious about what other staffs wear during practice/games? Is your practice gear team issued? Do you wear whatever you want? What about games? Or is it the standard polo/khaki pants?
At one school I was at, it was wear whatever you want. Most of the time it ended up being a school issued shirt (either football or another sport from the school), with every now and then wearing a Nike or UA shirt/shorts in the school colors. Another school, its ALWAYS team issued stuff, with getting away with team shorts and a generic team color UA shirt.
On Gamedays, I've been on a staff where it was black mesh shorts and polos (Man, I miss those) during the heat, and then we got matching Addais track suites in the fall, coats in the late fall. Another staff had khaki shorts and polos, another pants is the requirement.
Does your staff have a policy, or is it unspoken? What about things like hats?
(PS, Thank goodness 7 on 7 camps open in 10 days Im going stir crazy!)

Gym shorts and a tee shirt to practice while it's hot. Usually team gear. Sweatshirt and/or jacket in the cold. And sweat pants. Again usually team gear. Game nights khakis and team polo or jacket were unspoken rule. New coach says he is gonna wear shorts. Idk if I can do that or not.

I'm going to take on a fashion tip from that Kingsbury guy and go with gray flat front pants. I have a pretty sweet UA half-zip I had our logo screen printed on.

We are issued practice and game shirts. I have been able to talk the HC in to buying at least 2 of the long sleeve practice shirts. For those of you that have not worn them they do cool you off more than a short sleeve.
For games we have a light colored shirt for home and and dark colored shirt for away. Each coach purchases their own pair of khakis.

Issued spirit packs for practice, polo and issued under armour shorts for games. I love the shorts instead of khakis.

I ordered a half zip UA and when it came in realized it was a form fitting runners half zip. Not a good look for my midsection, no matter how I try to swing it! Want to get another one but want to spare the crowd, staff, team, and opposition from my slop. Don't think I could go with the dress slacks, not a sunglasses guy but if I was I would rock the same type. We are khakis and polos on gameday, matching shoes. When it gets cold we have pullovers windbreakers hoodies, whatever keeps you warm in school garb, still khakis and matching kicks. When it gets cold cold you are on your own, whatever keeps you warm and non-frostbite. HC will be the first to roll out the puffy off colored jacket and full on Inuit gear. Practice I think it is pretty much whatever but most have been here a while and have school gear on practically all the time until the cold cold rule kicks in. My first year so I wasn't always kosher with the school colors, we will get there.

What long sleeve do you wear? We've been wearing the under-armour loose fitting shirt. Next year we're going with the Nike loose fitting Dri-Fit.

We are in kaks and batting practice warm ups with the sleeves that detach. End of the year we went to hoodies and track pants. Hc is pretty strict about the uniform staff thing.
Practice I whatever most guys wear some kind of school gear. I've kind of falled in line use to wear what ever kind of shorts I had on hand and concert t shirts. Was talking with my buddy at a clinic this summer and commenting on why it is coachs feel the need to be geared out in coaching gear all the time. I guess it's just something I don't put a lot of stock in.

Practice...wear whatever. I go the longsleeve route and shorts (longsleeve even in heat...get my super sweat on).
Games, we go khaks....some where khaki shorts, I'm fine with it. Top wise, we'll just do a color theme. Whatever they want to wear, I don't care...we just make sure we are the same color (short sleeve pullover, polo..one from last year of the same color, etc..I couldn't give a rip).
Our colors are Royal, White (some gray). So, when we are home and the boys are in their blue tops...we'll go White, Gray or Black (so we don't blend in with the players on the sideline)....when away, we'll go Blue, Gray or Black.
When it gets cold, I ditch the khakis and go the Andy Reid route..minus weight the close to 4 bills which I hope I never have to worry about.

My HC good about getting us gear. We usually get 2 t's and a pair of shorts each year. We get a new polo each year. I pack for the week and bring all my gear for practice. Take it all home on Friday. I got a little chest in my office. Having everything all ready at school makes my life easier. He gets us jackets and hoodies every so many years of service. It's always a surprise and something nice. Guys get excited like the kids. "This is my 3 year jacket!"
We wear and buy lots of gear because we want to send a message. We only wear nice gear and only get nice gear for the kids. We do it one to show we are proud of our appearance and proud of our school and our sport. Whenever we started a new program it was usually down and generally neglected. Kids, parents, admins, and community get excited when they see our gear. Then they want some. Two We spread our "brand" that way. We put messages and acronyms on them to emphasize our values. It's a good way to promote IMO. When kids don't have anything to be proud of initially we give them something which is admittedly superficial but our kids are very proud.
We are inner city and little things matter. Before their coaches looked like bums treated the kids like they were bums and they got bum like performances from them. Coaches showed up to games in jeans and hunting jackets. Kids uni's were all mismatched. it looked have hazard and so did the play.
We got there and changed all of that talked about team and being uniform. Connected uni form to uni Ty. Gave them some things to be proud if and taught them to take care of it.
For some kids no one has ever given them anything. They see we care and appreciate them and wouldn't let them be out classed. That stuff matters to kids when they are learning to trust you.
That stuff also matters when you are in a big city were parents and kids are mobile. Kids will stay or move into your district because of how they are treated.
Of course this is all very superficial. It only serves to get people's attention but as any good salesman knows you have to get them to start saying yes. Once you get them hooked your product has to start selling itself.

Our coach made our program all Nike everything and I love it. We usually get a jacket, a sweater, a polo, shorts, pants, and a cap every year so there's no excuse not to wear school gear. I played here and then coached here for 7 years so I have a LOT of school gear. I think it helps kids feel like we're more official when all the coaches show up in school stuff. I could really care less as long as it's athletic apparel. I hate when guys show up in jeans and a button up or something. Dude. This isn't Applebee's happy hour. Come to work.
Game days, I like shorts and a polo. I try to wear a different color from everybody else since I'm the DC.

I've been apart of a few different schools of thought:
>practice never mattered as long as you were ready to work- whistles were mandatory (and checked), games were issued and pressed khaki pants, team polo shirt. >school colors for practice! Except on Saturdays if the college you went to had a big game, you could represent and talk trash (kids seemed to dig it) games were black slacks and game issued polo. >practice attire had a set schedule for all coaches to match, ex. Monday: black shorts grey shirt, Tuesday: grey shorts, white shirt. That was fun... Games were choice of khaki shorts or pants with either home or away polo.
Looking back as you might guess, pros and cons to most any style. In the end, can you create a football family, work together, and have the kids play for each other? If you can do this while winning, everyone can dress up like clowns and it wouldn't really matter.

Practice; Everyone wears shorts and a tee.
Game Day; No set rules, but most wear khaki pants or shorts. We get a two new coaches shirts each year. It is up to the coach which shirt or iteration they wish to wear.

As a head coach, I honestly do not care what my assistants wear to practice as long as they aren't cursing and spitting chew.
usually they are in jeans or slacks and a pullover or tee. I really do not care. I love when they wear team tee shirts and I do provide a couple of those every year. we all have matching jackets and hoodies and I see those but we certainly do not bother to spend time coordinating staff dress.
On game days we do all have issued polos and khakis are the pants that I require however, they can be shorts and every place I have ever worked, theres one guy who will always wear shorts no matter the weather.
We have done the expensive matching warm up suits and it seems that nobody likes them and coaches come and go so we don't blow money on that anymore.

Look professional. Represent the school well. Practice: we have enough school gear that our guys shouldn't need to wear anything else. Games: on top we almost all wear a coaching polo or pullover. When the weather gets cooler a hoodie or jacket. Most guys wear a hat. I don't. Lower: Kahkis pants or shorts. Bad weather some guys to to wind pants. We all have the same style shoes. That's not mandatory. It's just something we do I guess. Black and gold Boombahs!

Practice- don't care. Pretty much everyone on staff ends up in the shorts I get the coaches and players for our camp gear. Shirts we generally wear the camp Ts now that we've been here a few years, but I'm not a stickler for it. A lot of them are minus sleeves.
Game- always our coach's polo (one of those Nike Gung Ho ones) and khaki shorts or pants. When it gets colder guys will wear some of our hoodies or pullovers or something team issued. Bought some of those Nike tech fleece sweat pants last year and those were pretty popular once it got cold.

School we just left we got and had a ton of team gear, after 10 years over half my wardrobe was team stuff was real shocking when I cleaned it all out and realized I had nothing to wear! Jacket for all seasons, shorts, t's, hats, etc...
Now the school we just went to gives us no money for team or coach gear. So whatever we want to practice and we will buy our own coaching shirts to wear with nice shorts or pants. Once the weather hits then it's whatever you need to wear to stay warm or dry.

Charge a couple bucks extra any time you sell anything like playoff gear or camp stuff. You'll easily make enough to fund your staff's clothing budget- as long as you don't have 7 thousand coaches. That's what I do and we get some pretty nice stuff.

Practice gear usually team issued shirt and shorts but can really wear anything you want as long as it's school colors or school affiliated. Game nights, issued polo and khaki shorts or pants. We have some coaches that prefer the shorts nearly all season (even in the cold) and some that prefer pants even in the heat. Hats are team issued as well but not mandatory to wear. I prefer polo, shorts, and hat for as long as possible. Late fall in KY usually gets pretty chilly though and pants/jacket are a must.
We try to wear opposite color polo according to home/away uniforms. So if our players are wearing our home orange jerseys, coaches wear black or white so we can be easily identified. Away jerseys are white so coaches wear Orange. With no huddle and signals we want players to quickly identify coaches on sideline.

Practice: Our staff has been together long enough we all have plenty of Ts whether it is our strength and speed shirts or camp Ts.
Game Day: Under Armour polos or Under Armour baseball 1/4 zips and khaki (shorts or pants). As it gets colder, we don't coordinate as well ... just ask our guys to look like we represent a first class program.
