Just want to share something that has been very positive for our program. Each season I present a program for our junior parents (although we typically get parents with kids in 8th and 9th grade) called "How to get your son a College Scholarship." The trick answer is, make sure he has the right parents ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) We have a power point program and we present the opportunities that are available to play college football. We talk about D-I, II, and III, NAIA, and Juco. We have our college counselor talk about ACT / SAT scores and the FAFSA form. We'll print out their HS transcripts and talk about GPA, Core Classes, and the Clearinghouse. We share the process of how we send out video on our players and how college recruiting fairs and visits work. We also show all of the colleges where our graduates have been placed. The parents really appreciate the show (it's takes about 45 minutes) and we have found it to also be a good "recruiting" attraction for kids whose parents may have had mixed feelings about playing football rather than play baseball or basketball year round. When we show them the numbers that in 6 years we have 9 kids playing college football (2 D-I's, 1 D-II, 3 NAIA, and 3 D-III) vs zero playing basketball and baseball, it makes a big impression.
