Aaron Rogers got some decent work after an abysmal performance by Favre. Wouldn't it make sense to give Rogers a start in the last two games?
I know that Favre is one of the NFL's "sacred cows", so it would be tough to bench him...

In all fairness, he most of his offensive supporting cast has been obliterated. I think the media has made him out to something of mythical proportions. It takes 11 guys playing together....last night they were down to their FIFTH tailback!! Not to mention the front office allowing their two Pro Bowl guards to walk (to Dallas) in free agency last off season. If Favre steps down for the Rogers kid, he's got to be retiring. If he's retiring, then maybe they give him the sentimental starts for the last two games. The defense hasn't been decent since Shurmur left(doesn't help when you hire a new DC every year). That being said, I'm a Bear fan and I'm really enjoying this....

Packer fans should blame the mangement here, since there is no owner, per say. They are the ones who have let Sherman create this mess, he wanted to be GM/HC, which I think is too much power and too much for one man to handle. Sherman had ZERO HC exp. before he got to Green Bay, and has floundered in a weak NFC. Yes, he has some divsion titles, but the NFC Cent. has been like the XFL for the past 5 years...The Pack has quit on Sherman, and Favre should do whats best for the organization and let Rodgers play.

A. I am a Bears fan and so I, like many of you are loving this. But I have always admired Farve for his toughness and he is a great NFL QB.
B. Do you think Farve has anything left? Maybe enough to join the Bears next season depending on how Grossman leads them in the post season? Do you think he would play somewhere else or just retire as a Packer?

why bother moving? He IS a god in Wisconsin - have you ever been up there....or near his restaurant?
Bears have enough problems. Favre touches on a lot of things that are both GOOD and BAD for the sport (media / sports relations).
Again, it goes back to - WHAT makes a good QB? It's more than mechanics.

I'm a Packer fan from back in the 60's. It's tough to watch the Pack these days and tough to watch Favre. I'd like to see him keep starting and maybe put him in the gun for his throws and use toss for the stretch. He looks like he has trouble getting to the handoff somtimes! He certainly has aged but his arm is still pretty good. AND they should start getting Rodgers some time - GRADUALLY (ask Alex Smith!) Rodgers first play last night - delay blitz from backside corner - he got hit and fumbled - welcome to the NFL son! NFL stands for what...?

Maybe for fans of the NFC North that didn't watch before 1992, you're in for a culture shock, because the Green Bay that has developed this year, is the same one many of us grew up with. A team so screwed up and pitiful....well, it looked a lot like the Bear teams throughout the 90's....ah....nevermind.
But there are several mitigating issues that could serve to parallel that of the falling of the Berlin Wall of the NFC North and open up the doors to the Bears dominance for years to come.
1) Mike Sherman. Is this guy going to be allowed back? He has been stripped of GM duties and his undying love for Brett Favre may be what prolongs the misery of the organization. His attitude and mentality has alienated many of the top players and his inability to 'relax' seems to intimidate the close Packer following (not many question him) and push away the national media....losing wide spread support. If Favre retires, it is believed that Sherman won't be sticking around to rebuild and will be helped in his decision by being fired.
2) Brett Favre. Quarterback mystique be damned, this guy is looking more like the last-season-Marino more than ever. He has been hamstrung by personnel depletion in 2005 (losing both Pro Bowl guards in off season / receivers going down all year / losing all his running back threats) and an under acheiving and out-matched defense every week. If Favre leaves, he does with at least a shred of decency and his honor intact. It also signals the setting of the Green and Gold Sun over Favre's dawning empire, and the rising of the Aaron Rogers decade. Change will be rampant and the Packers will be back to building through the draft. Many of the top tier players will be demanding trades (those that already haven't) and a great influx of talent may occur. If Favre stays, then they will do everything they can to remain aggressive in free agency to bring as much talent into the club for one last hurrah. The organization will likely be cap-strapped because of this and will ultimately detrimentally affect them in the seasons to come. Favre is clearly not hanging on for a Super Bowl run, but for personal records and accomplishments. The main players of contention are Dan Marino, John Elway, and Joe Montana. Now in all fairness, take a look at that list. Number one, Favre can chase these feats for his name in the record books, but honestly, is it worth it, and does his name REALLY belong up there with those greats? I'd argue it doesn't. Secondly, being that he's attmepting to squeeze the last ounce of magic out of his career - is it really worth it, knowing that in under a decade they will all fall to the Golden Boy named Manning? Why fight the inevitable? Leave while you still have your health.
3) Reggie Bush. I'm not suggesting that the Packers tanked last night's game, but there is no fight left in those guys. Being down to your FIFTH tailback in one season, will likely do that to you. Being in the hunt with San Fran and Houston for Reggie Bush, we can only pray to the Football Gods that Green Bay doesn't get him. That, or Reggie does the right thing and pulls an Eli Manning on them and refuses to be drafted by Green Bay (THAT would be perfect). If that is the case, Green Bay will either move on without Favre, or give one last, one-legged push towards the post-season in '06.

I don't know Brophy, I think he's just very competetive by nature and isn't interested in coaching or broadcasting, so doesn't want to quit playing the game he loves! Cause that will be it!!! The only way a competitor like that would retire is if the injury's made it too painful to get ready every week!

What ever happened to Kurt Warner? Couple of good seasons with the Rams then after losing that Super Bowl to New England with the addition of a couple bad performances, he's at Arizona.
Farve has something left in the tank due to his arm strength and his competitive spirit. However game after game, his competitive spirit is slowly dying. It's starting to become more apparent because he's frustrated, passes are sloppy and etc. They need the offseason to get some things in order.
Farve in my opinion has this season and maybe one more.

favre is the only nfl legend still playing, that i can think of. he deserves to have the opportunity to end his career on his terms. i don't think he's playing for records, he's never seemed like that type of player.

Well said Fish and good question D-line. I've wondered the same thing cause it looked like the Rams were gonna have a dynasty there for a couple years? I know Kurt Warner had been around for a while before coming to the Rams? How old a guy is he? I and all the other old farts on this forum will probably agree that when you get older- "The mind and heart are willing but sometimes the body won't cooperate". You can't always do the things you use to take for granted!

warner has had a short nfl career, maybe 7 years tops. he did play arena league for awhile and did some other things to keep playing. warner is a good qb, but watching the rams play it seems more the system to me than the qb. whoever they plug in there gets yards. of course it helps with the receivers they have as well.
