Hey Coaches,
I try to keep competition involved in practice as much as possible, as I believe that competition makes everyone better. Especially when the kids are dragging a little. I like to throw the offense or defense into goaline competitions or go down and distance with a specified goal for each play. What other competitive scenarios do you guys use?

things we do are;
Go two-minute....timed drives offense vs defense.
Play "king of the hill" on defense. *Offense has 3 downs to get 10 yards ------If they get 10 yards, defense stays out on field ------If they don't, defense leaves the field "victorious", 2nd defense enters the field ------If either defense / offense enters the field without making a big noise /commotion, they return to the sideline, do up downs, and try it again.

have done this in the past when going 1's vs 1's i.e. "good on good"
Offense on the -10 yard line. have 3 downs to get a first down. if they get a first down we turn it around and put the ball on the +10 and offense has 3 downs to score a td. if offense doesn't get a first down then they have to do their conditioning at the end of practice. if they get first down AND score a TD then defense has to do the conditioning. if offense gets first down but defense keeps them from scoring a TD then you can decide....depending on what has happened in games past (i.e. we've had trouble finishing drives, then we make offense go.....or defense is giving up too many first downs then they run, etc.)
