Happy new year Gents!!
So we went over our budget stuff for this year and we have a large amount to spend but not sure on what. We have plenty of equipment and just bought another lineman chute with boards.
HC said he was thinking about a 7on7 and big man camp out of the area or a contact camp. What would you all spend it on? Mind you we haven't done any fundraising for the upcoming year yet.

Save it for a rainy day. I thought we were golden with all the stuff we got this year after our fundraising was over. Turns out, after practically saving our program, I was on the hook for everything this year. Not a dime has been picked up by the AD. New unis, extra equipment needed for the record numbers we had come out this yea; all came from me. Stash some of that for the day when you need some extra. Wish we had a slush fund to go to, cause we are broke!

I agree Don't spend it just to spend it
Team contact Camps are great but I think it's something the kids should pay for.

Wow. We've never, and I can't foresee a situation where we'd ever be in this predicament. Money is hard to come by in most urban programs in FL. But if you have a surplus, get the kids something cool. New Unis, Tshirts, hoodies, gloves, or anything else for them.

Our boosters are really good at managing our money for he program. The prez is a CFO at some company. (Go figure). But anyway, I said the same thing... To save it. I thought the contact camp was a good idea but I want to to do some type of team building deal. Something really cool the kids will like.

I've always wanted to either bring in or go to a true boot camp type deal. A camp, but one that promotes unity, challenges physically and mentally.

Anytime I get some extra money coming in I wasnt counting on, my philosophy is to save half and splurge with half. So I'd take half of it and buy the kids matching shorts and shirts to wear in the wt. room that they'd really like, or I'd buy some new weights and equipment for our wt. room

Send all the QBs in your program to a Darin Slack QB camp.

I agree with the others about saving, but having said that I'd definitely invest in the weight room. Do you have enough equipment for everybody? Then how about a new sound system. Run off a timer instead of music in weight room, how bout a big clock to keep track of it all with a buzzer. I'd try to find something to help streamline whatever we do to help us get MORE organized. That way we can take advantage of all of our practice/weight room time.

We ordered some new dumb bells, benches, we painted it, ordered some more cleans boards with logo and all. and we still have a large amount left over. We have a account with a savings or just in case money is what we call it. I do like the idea of a new sound system in the weight room. there isn't one actually. We also ordered some white boards for it as well. I do like the idea of getting dry fit clothes for the guys that do well in the weight room… we don't have a huge incentive program for things like that. I will run all these ideas by my HC… Thanks fellas. If you think of anything else please post it or PM me.

Out of curiosity, do you hold it against a kid f he can't or won't pay for it? our camp is really cheap now I run my own, only 40 a kid which is affordable for most kids and they have a lot of notice on when it is due. We only charge our own kids for the camp I run so we have some money up front that I can use to purchase camp insurance, food, shirts for the camp.... it pays for some so I don't have to put up all of the money out of pocket. We only have a couple kids each who can't/don't pay the $40 and we have those kids come to camp early each day and help set things up... they essentially "work off" their camp fee.

Somebody mentioned upgrade travel-how about use money to charter buses to all away games instead of taking activity buses? Our district won't allow us. We've tried before. Our district won't allow us to get field turf unless all other schools in our district gets it. It's bull I tell ya. We have pretty decent travel bags. But I mentions new headsets. The ones we have are kind of crappy. I wasn't able to get calls in as fast cause they kept cutting in and out ok my signaler headset.

What about a practice segment timer? Although headsets do sound like they should be top of the list.

take a staff trip yto a nearby college and learn from them.
ie. a few years back we took an offensive coaches trip to Nevada to go to University of Nevada and sit in with coaches and learn from their expertise.
