rivals100.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?SID=880&Year=2008&ra_key=1803Wow, makes the front page of Yahoo.com I wonder how football at the HS level is going to be different in 10-15 years? Mainly, the media...ESPN. Football is just a juggernaut right now. Are we going to start getting games featuring top-rated atheletes on ESPN...heck, even highlights? In any event, HS Football, I think, is going to be bigger and bigger. National Championship anyone?

I think Yahoo bought out Rivals or went into a partnership of some kind.

Coverage of that nature would require a new network, not that it won't happen, just adding some logistics. I think a national championship is a great idea, but I don't think the state associations would ever agree to do it.

The race to get the edge on the latest football phenom. Heck in 10-15 years, Rivals will be ranking the top 100 7yo football players.

It is also important to note that on USA today's website, which is one of the "leaders" of ranking the top 25 HS football teams in the country, also has a link on their front sports page to Rivals.com's top 100 football players. I think that this is good for the fans but I can see so many bad things that will acompany it. The players themselves, some of which are treated like stars in their own community as it is, will be treated that way on a larger scale, and this will lead to larger egos and a further deterioration of the concept of "team". More pressure will also be put on these kids, and with exposure comes criticism so how long will it be before I am standing at my post game conference berrating a reporter for calling my 15-year-old sophomore QB soft?
