I just learned that Raleigh is reassigning a good deal of their students to other schools due to overcrowding. I was wondering if any coaches on this board coach in the area and what their reactions are to this movement. I was wondering how the atheltic programs (mainly football) are being effected from this?

I don't coach high school ball here in Raleigh (only youth league), but reassignment can be devastating on a program. I went to Fuquay-Varina years ago and recently, I asked the former F-V head coach how the Middle Creek reassignment of four years ago affected F-V. He said it severely weakened his team and a lot of his skilled players including his QB went to Middle Creek. F-V went from being in the state playoffs in the mid to late 90s to 2 and 3 win seasons just a few years later.
Unfortunately, (at least with respect to the athletic programs) Wake County is not set up like Mecklenberg. There's a reason why Charlotte Independence is on a 90 plus game winning streak and it's not because they know how to weather re-assignment. It's because Mecklenberg is not as strict as to student assignment.
