All I have to say is...any games this weekend where a top 25 team is heavily favored to win...will be MASSIVE blowouts Nobody wants to be Michigan 2.0. I firmly believe, Michigan could have rolled App. St. if they would have just prep'd for them like the will prep for a Big Ten game. The win was a fluke. It won't happen again for a very long time.

I dont know if it was a total fluke, even though I am biased as an App St alum. When I watched the game it appeared to me that App had an edge in team speed. However, if this game was to become a 10 game series I openly admit we (APP) would be lucky to win 2 of the 10. (But all that matters is that ONE TIME!)

If you think that game was a fluke then you are ignorant. Appy was tooooooo fast for them. Speed is NOT a fluke. If it makes ya feel better though; ok.

I think the Big 10 should ask App. State to join so that they can become The Big 12 2.0.

Everybody is saying, "I wouldn't want to be the next team that Michigan plays." Well, why not? They aren't going to do any better against the Oregon Ducks. Face it, Michigan is overrated and overhyped, all the time, along with the rest of the Big Ten. And if Michigan can't handle speed, then the Ducks are going to kill them. They have much more team speed than App. State, even though App. State had a few burners.

Was Michigan wearing their Jerseys? Then they lost.
Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser. Everytime you put the Jersey on, which represents your school, you should play to win.
If their staff was not prepared like they would normally be, then they do not deserve to represent the School. I am sure they are not looking for excuses, so we shouldn't try and find one for them.
They lost, time to move on and not let it happen again.

From what I saw on my television was that those kids from Appalachian State were A LOT faster - I can not recall seeing one skill player who was not a burner. Michigan looked like it was playing in sand - but maybe it was my high definition signal was screwed up

the big ten has had a history of speed and they have never had a home bowl game as well.
the sec and pac 10 have better athletes. it is easy to recruit kids to play in the warm, the sun and at worst, a rain storm.
the big ten runs offenses and defenses which stop the run cause most of the big ten runs offenses and defenses which will work to the conditions they face later in the season.
outside of maybe the big east, no other confrence has to prepare to play in the snow. games in november have snow or cold rain.
I say we have a sec/big ten shootout held the weekend before thanksgiving. all the games played at big ten schools.
as bobby bowden says, aint going north after sept.

if you follow that logic trail, doesn't it lend itself to a playoff system, then? They are divided for that very reason.

it ain't hard to recruit the best athletes in the Nation when they are in your backyard.
Try convincing the best athletes (Texas, Florida, Louisiana, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, Virginia, California) to come play in Michigan / Wisconsin in November.
Big Ten has speed? Really?!
There would be no "fall out" had Michigan just won. What a novel idea. Take it like a man.
Purdue runs smash mouth football because Joe tiller is afraid of the cold in Indiana. Those Florida and SEC teams never have to deal with the annual Atlantic monsoon in October, do they?
Since 1989, Michigan has been one of the most overrated teams in college football. Avg. pre-Season Rank 7.8125 Avg. post-season rank 10.81 Michigan has been overrated in 10 of 16 seasons and has an accumulated over ranking of 48
In the listed years , Michigan has 1 top 4 finish, #1 in 1997. But, even considering that, every preseason out trots the Michigan hype wagon. Am I missing something? What has Michigan done to deserve all the pub?
From 1901 to 1905 Michigan was the dominant force of midwestern college football. Of course, Minnesota was also kicking the hell out of teams in the early 1900s too, but no one considers the Gophers a traditional power. Maybe there is some other reason Michigan keeps getting over rated to begin new seasons.
Maybe its all the National Championships Michigan has won? Michigan is alleged to have won the following 9 National titles (according to Ncaafootball.net):
1901 - Helms Athletic Foundation (HAF), National Championship Foundation (NCF) 1902 - HAF, NCF 1903 - NCF 1904 - NCF 1918 - NCF 1923 - NCF 1933 - College Football Research Association, HAF, NCF 1948 - AP 1997 - AP, Football Writers Association of America, National Football Foundation
You'll note that most of these championships, in fact 7 of them, are completely made up figments of the imagination of some foundation that declares national champions on a historical basis
How about recent bowl results? Maybe that is why every single pre-season we get to hear about how Michigan has a shot at the title.
2005 Rose lost to Texas 2004 Rose lost to USC 2003 Citrus beat Florida 2002 Citrus Shellacked by Tennessee

As a native northener living and coaching in the south, the question of northern vs. southern speed has always intrigued me. A few years ago, when I had time to kill, I looked into the question. Since WR is the main speed position in the NFL, I went into the player bios on CBS Sportsline and looked at where they were born. The majority were from southern states but there was a significant number from three northern states: Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
What does that mean? To me, it means that there is generally more speed in the south but that there certainly is speed in the north. Just ask Charlotte Independence, huh?
