we do the coupon card. we send the kids out selling for one day. we want each of them to sell 10 cards at least. if so, then that's about $10,000.

We do the same thing as fish, and make a lot of $$$ for our program. The entire operation takes about a week. All the coaches have to do is count the $$$ on the night the kids turn in their stuff.

We've done a camp for our Middle School kids (boys and girls are invited). We run the camp very similiar to our practices as far as warm up, fundamentals, etc. They end each day with flag football - we keep track of the wins and losses - then have a "Super Bowl" on our game field the last day. We also give kids Player Evaluations for both their offensive and defensive positions. Basic rubric scores with a space for a couple sentences of encouragement. Charge 50 per kid. We would like to do one for the elementary kids as well next year.
This year we are doing the letter writing campaign. I'll have to ask our HC, but basically some company takes our basic info, drafts a letter, each kid gets 10 to send to relatives, etc. (each has a self addressed stamped envelope) and the kids just mail them out. Programs in our area (from much more affluent backgrounds than our school) do this year to year and make 10,000 plus according to their coaches.

We do the card thing as well. We give them 10 to pre-sell, then do a blitz for one day. We usually do really well. We also run a camp for kids 5th grade and up, plus one for us at the same time.

varsity gold is a great card deal (varsitygold.com i think???)
one thing we've done is a lift-a-thon thing. we have the kids bring up 10 addresses. we write a form letter asking for donations - either direct or per pound - and the kid fills in his weight. the letter is the same. we then have the kids address 10 letters and stuff their envelopes. we then mail them out. percentage wise, this has a greater return than if we had the kids go solicit the thing. they're only going to go to their families anyway. so, we just eliminate the hassle and mail out the letters. baseball does it for the long ball contest as well. we do it in 7 on 7 but simply ask for a small donation. we explain the cost per kid for a tournament and the whole summer. most people simply drop 5 or ten dollars in the envelope and return it. simple, simple and we get the same if not better returns than doing it the "old" way.

We've done a golf tournament before with a silent auction and dinner afterwards. We've also made alot of money at the concession stand and merchandising and booster club memberships. We have different levels of memberships from small amounts on up. We give out premiums at each level.
The best fundraiser that we have run is Christmas tree sales. All trees are pre-ordered and we have an order form as a page in our football program. Each player is asked to sell 3 trees; one for their own home, one for a relative and one for someone else. I've built in incentives such as any player who sells five trees gets his spirit pack for free, sell seven trees and get a set of team sweats free, etc. We make a profit of $20.00 on each tree and everything is sold as a pre-order. If someone doesn't like their tree then we refund their money. All left over trees are then sold to a local Christmas Tree lot, so we don't lose any money. Sometimes we even donate a couple of trees to those less fortunate or to a local charity.
Since our trees are pre-ordered and shipped and received within two days of their being cut down, we know exactly how many trees to order and we always get the freshest trees for our people so we get a lot of return business. The kids with trucks can even make some extra money delivering the trees for the customers.
We expanded the business to include selling wreaths, tree stands and a couple of other things.
It's a great fundraiser, after the prep work it's over in one or two days and everyone wants a tree for Christmas and they need a new one the following year.

We do the same as maximus. It's called PDP. It's amazing. It might not be any fun but it's the least time consuming for both the kids, parents, and coaches. All we do is hand out 10 predrafted letters saying that we're working hard and having a good time at camp and would like any type of help you can get. The kids put 10 addresses on them and bring them back. We hand them to the company to mail and just wait for the money to show up. Last year my last team did it and we grossed $14,000 for only 65-70 kids. This year my new team is doing it and we have almost 200 kids. Can't wait to see the return on this.
We also do Varsity Gold. Works pretty well.

As a smaller school, 3A, we do the varsity gold cards. We also do a golf tournament during the spring, and we sell football t-shirts.

This year we did two man teams ($50 a team) and we sold hole sponsorships to local businesses and politicians.
