What do you do during the season in terms of equipment and contact?
During the week do you go with full equipment? How much hitting do you do?
What do you think if you are a team that goes with just helmets and shoulder pads during the week, does that decrease your intensity on game day?

If we are practicing, we will go with full pads, even if it isn't full contact. We have found that our kids are do not come out and practice sharp if they are not wearing pads. Also, there is always somebody who can't stay on their feet, and we like to have legs padded because of this.
If we are going to have a walk through, we will go with shorts and a t-shirt.

We are the same. We will go full gear to create a tempo, as well as to hit. We generally go full speed at least 2 days a week for scrimmage and drills. We'll go with uppers on Thursday when we have a Saturday game but M,T,W are usually full gear.

Most of our games are on Saturday.
Monday - film, lifting, light running Tuesday - full pads, light contact including some live drills Wednesday - full pads, live contact including some live scrimmage Thursday - full pads, light contact including some live drills Friday - helmets only, pre-game practice (I hate the term "walk through", but that's what it is).

I feel that if the players dont go full gear throughout the week then they will not be used to playing a full game with equipment and might make a difference as far as conditioning and game performance ( not being able to complete a game well).

We are in full pad Monday through Wednesday. Walk through on Thursday.
