What is your list of Team Rules that players are expected to follow? I'm developing a new approach and want to leave out the list of 100 items of "DON'T DO THAT" stuff staying on the positive side. Want to stay short and sweet, but effective.
Here's what I've started with.
1. Golden Rule - Treat others the way you want to be treated. 2. Be loyal to the team. 3. Uphold the school conduct policy.
Thanks for the input.

Check out this Website from Bruce Brown at Proactive Coaching. He has some really great ideas about "team rules". He actually has standards and avoids rules. I think his 'golden standard" for teams is - Don't do anything to let you team down on or off the field". Bruce speaks at a lot of football clinics, if you get a chance to hear him speak, take advantage of it! www.proactivecoaching.info/

Standards... Rules...
You reach and achieve standards... you can be below standard and still participate...
Rules... you have to obey rules... you are held accountable for not following rules...
I'm all about accountability and responsibility... Rules are good, they test discipline. I want rules in my program... not a lot of them, but just enough to let the players know, you can't just behave in any manner and be a part of this team.
My rules...
John Wooden's triple double... And my favorite.... "Do the right thing!"
Ambiguous enough for me to hold everyone accountable. And flexible enough that I don't have to deal with nonesense.
