I am looking for information or a template for Student Athlete Leadership Training. In my initial reasearch I have seen schools (HS and College) that have clubs called SALT. Do you know if this is a national organization or a common organization in High Schools? Does the school you coach at have a leadership / character program for athletes?
Our school has had a really tough year in terms of our Student Athletes loosing elegibility from athletic code violations and grades. The communnity is starting to have a negative view of our athletic programs because some of our better athletes have made a lot of poor choices. They have lost scholarships opportunites and impacted the success of the team(s).
We have a really good group of incoming Sophmores and our Senior class, that for the most part lacks leadership, is on it's way out. I think the majority of the coaching staff and parents would be open to a program that would change this negative trend.
It would be a good year to start a program, get our athletes involved in community service work, try and get some character and leadership courses for the student athletes and coaching staffs.
Any help, advice, or input would be great.

I am looking for this too. If anyone has "lesson plans" or schedules for their leadership meetings, I would appreciate that as well. We are planning on having our juniors & seniors meet weekly for the 4 to 5 weeks leading up to mini-camp with leadership development as the goal.

Contact Coach Roger Freeborn. He's got a website from which you can order all of his S.E.T. Class (leadership class) materials. I haven't ordered it yet, but as soon as I can get the administration to consider the class I will.
