Coaches, I read this Coaching Philosophy recently, and was inspired by its quality-of-content. It is short but special; a reminder of why we are all in this profession to begin with...
A Coaching Philosophy:
I believe that teaching, coaching, and mentoring student-athletes is one of the most noble professions there is.
Participation in sports helped to shape my work ethic, values, and character; from these experiences in sports, with the grace of God, I have been blessed beyond measure.
I believe in the process of transformation through participation and that the outcome of competition is a byproduct of the process itself.
I believe in challenging our student-athletes to look beyond their immediate surroundings in order to see the impact they can have on the world.
I believe in mentoring our student-athletes to reach their highest potential as people, students, and athletes and to define themselves not by wins and losses, but by the strength of their character.
Winning is not a finite event that happens only under the Friday night lights: I believe in teaching our student athletes how to win forever in the process of life.
Inspiration leads to Transformation, and this is the ultimate victory and the ultimate championship one can achieve.

An excellent passage. If you're not in it for the kids, you're wasting your time.
My heart was broken late this season when a few parents (jilted over a playing time issue) accused me privately and publicly about being a phony and not truly caring about the kids. It made me seriously consider hanging it up for next year and looking elsewhere.
