Coach,
You mentioned this team over on my thread (before it got hijacked) that you like this team.
"Here is my favorite team to watch in Illinois...Downers Grove North. They are traditional playoff power year in and year out with very few division 1 kids. They went to the semi-Finals in 2003 and won state in 2004 in class 8A (Largest in Illinois). For 25 years they have run these 4 plays...
1) Veer 2) QB Follow (Literally QB ISO) 3) Load Option 4) Midline
90% of the time they line up in Pro or twins set. Just to get crazy they may line up in open twins.
Saw their coaching staff talk at a clinic. They had a 90 minute segment to explain their offensive blocking schemes. Their presentation took 30 minutes."
Here is some video I found on youtube. Funny thing this is highlights for the Glenbard West team and at the end they show the final score. You would never know based on the video. LOL. You do get to see the plays or at least the attempts.
Would like to hear about those blocking rules if you have time. Anything that can be explained in 30 minutes sounds super to me.

Do not be fooled...
Their QB that year... #7... Garrett Edwards... was a monster...
And they had some offensive linemen, that were out and out beasts...
And the defense caught fire late in the year.

1 player from that DGN team went Division 1 from that state championship team...Joe McMahon. He is now at Iowa State after going to Joliet Junior College.
What is funny is that DGN BLADED The pass happy crew from Maine South in 2004. An absolute clinic on how a complicated offense and defense can be stopped with 4 running plays and a 4-4 defense.
Garrett Edwards (QB) was very good but was not that big...very athletic and quick. Tommy Edwards who played in 2002 and 2003 was a FB playing QB.

Are they still SBV? I heard Ventrelli speak at a clinic in maybe '03. He was excellent

John Wander is not the Head coach at DGN. Still running the SBV.
