Coaches, I am looking into the off-season as a means of doing research on the under front defense. I am looking to develop more knowledge and find answers to the things giving us trouble this year.
In your opinion, is it more beneficial to see other high school coaches, college coaches or both to direct myself into the direction I am looking for?
If college, is there anyone you would recommend based on personal knowledge or word of mouth?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I talked to both high school and college coaches, but I learned the most talking to a couple division 3 colleges by us. Obviously their schemes are a little more complicated than what we can do, but I can take parts of it and use it in high school.

I recommend buying Jerry Gordon's book on the Under. He's also a frequent, respected, and all around awesome poster on here under the screenname jgordon1.

Thanks for the compliments guys but IMO, there is no substitute for visiting a small college...that's when you can ask the questions you never thought of until they mention something that you never thought of or might not be in any book

Coach Gordon, I purchased your book this past year and was blown away but its structure and simplicity. It has been extremely beneficial. Have utilized any colleges you would recommend as vital in taking the next step?

Read books, visit colleges/HS's, and do google searches and you'll find good posts by Jerry on here or blog posts. All of it goes hand in hand. You may get the most out of the college visit, but learning what you can before and after helps too.
If you can get your hands on some GREAT HS film of schools that run it well, that would be useful. I think that's underrated. College coaches can teach you a lot, but I think seeing a HS team run it so you can identify problem areas is good too. Watch their technique.

OSU and Nebraska are first that come to mind however, the size and complexity might be too vast for what I think I am looking for, but might be beneficial to discuss how they developed and fine tuned the product.
