Ok, this is subjective. Tell me the best coaching job you can think of. I need to know a few things to back it up. Previous year's record. Starters that had to be replaced. Small school playing in larger school division. I'm sure you can think of a few....Tell me about one that you still can't believe happened.

High School, my Jr year we were absolutely LOADED with Talent. I was the smallest lineman at 6'2 265, I played Center at the time. Everyone was 280+ across the line. We had a Vick-like QB. We went 3-7, and lost our homecoming to a really REALLY REALLLLLLLY bad team.
My Sr year comes around, they fired the O'Coordinator from the previous year. I became the biggest guy on the line, moved to Off. Tackle. We had a pure passing QB, not very fast. Finished the season at 8-2, missed the playoffs on a coin-flip. (I hate coin-flips btw).
The difference between the teams? Thats easy..team chemistry. We did nothing my Jr. year, my Sr. year the Head Coach got into a lot of team-building stuff and the team bonded. Played 1000% with more passion. We knew we would win. Thats all coaching is imho, making your team believe they are better than everyone else when its game time. That and a running back with 4.4 speed....hehe.

I know this is a pretty general answer, but how about Bill Belichick the first time they won the superbowl with the Pats. They had forty some injuries over the course of the season, lost their starting QB and had to turn to a fifth (?) round pick from Michigan, and virtually had no big-time, major names on the roster. I know this is always brought up, but that was pretty special.

regarding the Pats first SB win. That was a killer season. They lost their "franchise" QB, suspended their "franchise" WR.....in a killer division...pit up against the most vaunted offense in the NFL....sounds like some PEPTO moments to me.
People around here are of the impression that the best coaching gig is - Jr. High football. Same money as HS ball, less time, no pressure, only 5 games make up the "season".

A new school where you get 1 grade at a time starting with ninth, starting in eighth would be even better. Only one sport is offered per season, that way each team would get the best athletes in the school. Fully funded athletics with everything that you need and want, no teaching job required.

my current teaching gig makes the one i got pretty nice to deal with......
if the classroom ain't bad, then your whole outlook about everything is much, much better.....good kids in the school means good kids on the field which means you shouldn't have many problems and focus on coaching. now, whether or not those players are athletes is another story....but, you won't be miserable....

If we don't have to stick to football, I'll tell you the greatest coaching job ever. It was Herb Brooks with the Olympic hockey team. If you're not familiar with the story, rent the movie "Miracle".

You don't think the Russians lost the game on purpose? ? They wanted to stroke us, love us and be our friends. Whipping us in New York would've been the wrong way to begin a friendship.
