I was just wondering, if maybe some of you athletic directors out there, or maybe coaches that have been through the process, could give me a little insight on what people are looking for from candidates for a position during the hiring process. Most particularly at the high school level. What type of documentation do they like to see? What information should be shared with them during the interview process? Tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Do a search of the board and you will get some pretty good answers. You certainly aren't the first person on the board to wonder the same thing and there are some really great coaches here who have a much better idea than I do.

This thread re-appears every so often. My advice (26 years teaching, coaching, and AD) is to submit only what they ask for such as letter, resume, and references and save the BIG coaching manual for the interview. Maybe put in 1 additional page of bullet items that quickly and clearly detail something about philosophy or offense/defense... something to separate your file from the pack. During the interview make sure you ask questions about the teaching situation so they can see you are not just looking at the coaching.
