Need some help. I have heard the term "Explode" to make several shifts instead of using 2 or 3 different terms to get players to move. I've used the term too, but does anyone know what players and shifts it specifically means? Heard some pros use it and was wondering what the traditional movements were that are associated with Explode.

explode starts with all the players in some sort of compressed formation then "explode" outwards to the called formation. 1992 Redskins playbook describes it.

i think it's evolved some more since then. i think you trade a TE while shifting a back, then motion a WR. i'm sure it can be done several ways, i was just curious what it is considered these days. if anyone knows please help.

we would call a formation to set in, then the formation we want to start the play in. (motion could be added) video example of it

thanks, good stuff. the video was great. we have used Explode, Jump, Move and other one word indicators to use 3 different movements so we don't have to say 3 different things. thanks again, that was very helpful.
