I am trying to come up with a practice schedule where I can have Varsity/JV/ and Freshmen all coached by Varsity coaches. I am going to combine the staff so that the 8 varsity coaches and 4 freshmen coaches function as one staff. Has anyone attempted this before? Can anyone share an established plan that you feel has worked well?

Practice Freshmen before school....
practice varsity/jv after school... when varsity is on offense, the jv is on defense... then switch.

How long do you practie your freshmen? How many coaches do you have involved with them?

Coach,
We have been doing this now for 3 years and we feel it has been a great way to teach all the kids in the program. Here is how we break it down. 3 Varsity coaches, 2 JV coaches and 2 9th grade coaches. The head coach stays with the varsity on offense and defense. So we have 4 coaches working with the varsity at all times and 3 working with the 9th and 10th grade.
Monday JV plays game 9th grade alone varsity alone (film, wgt room, game plan, base game plan)
Tuesday/Wednesday 9th/10th grade first half of practice - defense and punt return and kickoff (WED - punt return and fg block) 11th/12th grade first half of practice - offense and punt and kick return (WED - punt and FG) (flip flop after 55 minutes)
Thursday 9th grade game 10-12 review all special teams and special situations, 2 min offense, etc..
Friday 9th grade lift and short practice 10-12 Varsity game
Saturday optional video and wgt room

Anybody who wants to be organized, prepare their team as best they can, and have a well-coached team (as well as vertical continuity in their total program) needs to read the the above from coachjd.

We have an 8 man varsity staff and a four man freshmen staff. I have always "flip-flopped" had 4 offensive coaches working with varsity and 4 defense with JV and then switch midway...I want to incorporate those 4 freshmen coaches and freshmen, and am looking for some detailed scheduling ideas...Keep them coming, I appreciate it!
