I am currently an offensive coordinator that runs Spread/I offenses. I May be taking head coaching a school that has very small numbers on the up coming football team. I have always had the luxury of two-platoon numbers during all prior coaching experiecnes. I really need advice on the most efficient ways of scheduling daily and weekly practices. I would like info about spec. teams, def, and off.

we also have small numbers. for the past couple years we have gone offense on monday, defense on tuesday, wednesdays school gets out an hour early for us so we get an extra hour for practice so this is the day we will do special teams and some more offense. Thursday is just review of O D and ST. we will usually do 2 minute offense on tuesdays as well. and of course you know what to do on fridays

Monday- new plays, opposing team offense/defense review, gameplans- can't do much because a lot of our kids play JV that night Tuesday- Offense or defense- I like O this day, this year our HC is doing D Wed- whichever you don't do on Tues Thurs- review, walkthrough, finalize plans, etc. Fri- kick buttocks

I like doing offense and scouting report on Mondays. You can rep plays at a fast pace against air to make it a conditioning/work out the soreness activity. I've been in situations where we separate days and combine days; I like having one day of defensive practice and one day of offensive practice.

Same as larrymoe, except we do a little D on the Offense Day and a little O on the Defense day. (Which I think he does as well, if I remember correctly).
For instance - Tues- Defense Day- we do our 2 minute O and Playaction Passing game, as well. Wed- Offense Day - we do "Pass Skelly" on this day, as well.

Yeah, I forgot to add that point. We are doing that as well this year. For example, on D-day (Tues) our O will do some sort of team/perfect plays or something for the last 20 mins or so.
Good job coachf in exposing my inadequecies yet again.

I was going to make a comment about your Friday night procedures, but I thought I should wait until we take the beating from you later this year. If not properly administered, I will drudge up this post and then make fun of your Friday night "buttocks kicking"

Again, nothing personal if I call timeout with 5 secs left so we can score again if we're only up 77-0.

From what I read the other day it looks like your week 3 opponent may put enough of a beat down on you, that you may never show your face on the field again. All I can say is - BULL RUSH!!!

On Monday we would install new plays and go over scouting report of next opponent as we had most of our players at JV game that evening. Tuesday we worked special teams (all) and Offense; would have individual Off. and Def work. Wednesday we worked special teams (all), Defense and Offense: would work Individual O & D. Thursday all special teams, review offense and defense vs opponent. Offense vs air. Friday game.
