I was thinking about this question. If you were to develop a masters program for football what would you included in it for classes, and projects?

Just one. It includes the proper tech for slamming them into a table, wall, chair, or other coaches in the press box to get them to work. Also how to giggle the wires on the head set to clear up the constant buzzing noise. Also what to do when you pick up EMS radio trasnmitions.

the staying married part is no joke...I know so many guys who are having probs or are already divorced. Such a fun thing (coaching) is also incredibly brutal.

Key to marriage is finding a woman who understands. My wife "gets it". She does not always "like it" but she "gets it".

I think a key thing about marriage is having a girlfriend/fiance go through a football season before you are married so that they see how it is truely going to be. My wife and I started dating in college when I played and she knew I was going to coach, so she had a good understanding of what it was going to be like. She is terrific and loves being a coaches wife. She has even worked with Mrs. Grant Teaff and Mrs. Dal Shealey to write some articles for the AFCA Wives association. Is name dropping about my wife alright?

Anyone truly interested in the staying married part should go to the Carson-Newman coaches clinic in Pigeon Forge, TN. Its great, its for coaches and their wives. They have seperate sessions for coaches and wives and they have some sessions for everyone together. I had a great time last year and I plan to go every year now.

I had no idea there was an AFCA wives association. My wife has already dropped hints as to how busy I am. I think I'll have to steer her in that direction. Thanks coach

the key to happy marriage is like my brother. his wife is the athletic trainer. she knows what long work days are like and she is on the sideline. they are lucky because she does not work all the football games. his school has a doctor work most of the games so she can stand on the sidelines and watch/cheer. some times she sits in the stands with friends as well.
she understands what it is like to go through a season. the ups and downs.
he also understands what it is like to cook his own supper during winter and spring sports season when she has to work games.

I know my husband has his duty and it is this time of year that I either get out the boxes or take a sigh of relief. A "Football Wife" has to be strong, patient, loving, and a good cook. Cause depending on your season you might have to move. Or a new coach comes in you have to wait and see what is next. You have to love him and know that he will make a good decision on the next move. And always a good cook for all of the weekend game planning that goes on at the office or at home. If your wife needs encouragement let her talk to me!

8 Core Classes would be:
1. Turnover Ratio 2. Creating & Preventing Explosive Plays 3. Blitz Package & Pick Up 4. Third Downs Conversion & Getting off the Field 5. The Red Zone 6. Clock Management 7. The Kicking Game All Facets 8. Penalties
The other 3 could be electives in how to handle parents, boosters, Leadership & Motivation, Effective Weight programs, Academic Monitoring, Planning(Yearly, Monthly, Weekly, Daily) any of these i would think help build successful programs.
