The trial of a man who shot a coach started yesterday. Coach Gary Joe Kinne of Canton, TX was approached by a parent in the field house about a year ago. You probably would have heard about it all over the news if the pope hadn't died around the same time. Coach Kinne lost 80% of his liver, and went on this year to advance to the regional finals, and Canton's first district championship in 41 years.
Anyway, there was a question as to whether the parent should have been charged with Assault with a deadly weapon or Assault of a Public Servant. I'm not quite sure why they didn't charge him with attempted murder.
What do you think, are we public servants or not?

teachers are part of most state's PERS (public employee retirement) so therefore they are a public servant. Probably why education holds a cabinent level position in the government huh?

Teachers are public servants, only when it is to the states advantage. But when it might benefit the teachers, then we are not public servants. We are not treated with the same respect by the state (Texas) as must other state employees are.
