Hello everyone I'm new to this site...I don't know if I should even put this in here so sorry if it's in the wrong board...But I was wondering...Is there anyway to teach juking? I mean like how do you get someone to be able to move like that? Just natural ability or can you actually teach it?

i dont believe the actual process of juking can be taught but emphasizing the physical ability and work put into should help. such as working on later movement, overall leg conditioning, and flexability, then making a quick move and letting your ability take over. basically be quick and creative. tough coaching it though...good luck

staggered cone drills with emphasis on quick change of direction and bursts of speed from cone to cone can help.

I like using dot drills to teach the quick footwork and also train the CNS to fire quickly. A very simple tackling drill helps too, anything where they are in a confined space and have to "shake and bake" to get by the defender . . . or get decked (sort of sink of swim school of thought).

to me juking is a god give gift. some people have it, others do not. sort of like dancing, some guys can dance with ease and other guys have two left feet.
to me there are two types of runningbacks,
dancers and dozers.
dancers can spin and juke, dozers just move the pile. very few jukers can move the pile and very few dozers can make some one miss.
I am not sure who I enjoy more. reggie bush is fun to watch but I sure liked ron dayne whyen he was at wisconisn. he used to look for some one to run over.

Two quick drills that they can do everyday at home or at school are Dot Drill and Jumping Rope.

I would prefer to watch texas tech however. I do not mind seeing the ball run knighter, I just want to see it done when you spread the defense out and they think pass and then you run. you want to pack everyone in tight and hopefully punch a hole in the defense. I want ot spread everyone out, make them defend the width and length of the field.

As a kid I used to run from one end of the stadium to the other as fast as I could thru the crowd on Friday night, you had to move in and out looking for a crease. Of course all the grown up's weren't to thrilled about this. Another way is to run thru a graveyard as fast as you can without hitting the tombstones. Come to think of it the grown ups were pretty ticked off about that as well. One way I have tried to teach moves to kids is to let them play flag football in P.E. You can't be a dozer , so you try to juke the defender with your hips, try it. At least the grown ups won't be pissed off.

It is a type of blasphemy though airman, you liking to see people run the ball is me liking to see people pass!!! haha

At the end of every RB drill we do (cones, bags, whatever) we have a coach with a dummy and the RB must juke, hit-n-spin, jump move, or dozer it.

THE QUICKEST WAY TO GET SOMEWHERE IS A STRAIGHT LINE....PLUS IF YOU RUN THE GUY OVER YOU DONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HIM CATCHING YOU FROM BEHIND

You can't really teach the kids how to juke. I just tell my guys to make 1 hard cut and then run upfield. Do you think ANYBODY taught Reggie Bush how to do anything he does? I don't. If they got it, they got it.

if the player is taught how to control their body, such as lowering their hips and firing their feet, then they can practice the components of the juke.
