Hey coaches, as a coaching staff this year my team is searching for a new way to minimize the penalties our kids recieve. I was wondering if there are any suggestions that you have used that works to get the kids to cut out the penalties. In the past we have tried some sort of punishment for them may it be running, updowns or pushups. Just wondering if anyone has found other ways that work. Thanks

I gave out punishment to my linemen if they got any mental mistakes, False Start, Offsides, not far enough up on the line. I gave them 1 double gasser per penalty if there were more than 2. If less than 2 I would cut conditioning short before gameday. If my recievers or backs got a mental mistake then it was 2 double gassers per penalty. i gave them a limit of 5 Physical penalties for the first 3 games, and 3 for the remaining games, they only went over the limit once that was on week one.
That worked out good for us.
